Crash after Atlus logo

[Cacat]

As soon as the initial Atlus logo on startup disappears the game crashes, every time, without fail. It also crashes if I attempt to click while the logo is playing. I have tried the following:

- I don't have any programs running that have an overlay on the game (turned off discord, fraps, steam big picture overlay, dragon gaming center I don't know what else I can turn off),
- I have no controller plugged in.
- I have checked the integrity of the files.
- I tried launching both with and without the Beta patch 1.2
- I tried deleting AppSettings.ini and tried some random changes in it as well (like changing the resolution, sound, turning off vsynch), nothing helped
- I have updated the drivers for my graphics card

I was excited to finally play this game, so it's a shame that seemingly no solution is working for me.

@EDIT: I have also tried restarting my PC, did not help.

Solved the problem: It seems that the overlays were not the cause of the issue. I went manually to Catherine.exe in the Steam folder and set the compatibility mode to "Windows 7". That seems to have fixed it (I got to day 2 with no problems encountered, as well as trying out Babel).

I have the same problem. Tried your solution but didn't work. Still waiting for them to fix it I guess. Or for someone to come up with another solution. I've tried everything.

I tried the method that OP said but doesn't work for me. I tried closing the MSI afterburner with RivaTuner it might be causing the issue, will continue testing

Wow, thx OP! I had the same problem, but also I couldn't play using "Windows 7" so I tried to lower it even more, and tried with "Windows XP", and it worked!

mine crashed too, after closing msi afterburner and rivatuner i was able to load the game correctly.
