Anyone got the same problem ?

When first launching the game with the patch, before The Eccentric Ape logo there are flashing lights (like the type that could induce a seizure). Then got stuck for a while when the first Golden Playhouse logo was shown. The cutscene inside of the tv next to Trisha (When we first met her) was sped up. And The cutscene after that (the one with Katherine and Vincent) its just black screen with the audio on the back. (sorry if there are grammar mistake, not my first language)

Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit
Intel Core i5-6200U @2.3 GHz
Nvidia GeForce 930MX
1366 x 768 (played on fullscreen)

Do you have any codec packs installed? If so, install and see if it makes a difference

I have a problem (same?) too.

It seems to be related to codecs or whatsoever, the problem is with video playback. When there is a video-animation-cutscene - it starts very fast and then screen freezes on one frame, while sound continues to play like it is in synch with video.

I have VLC player for all my video viewing and had K-Lite codec pack at the same time, which was not working properly with MPC (Media Player Classic). I have uninstalled K-lite and installed C.C.C.P. codec pack, with it MPC works fine, but there is the same problem with video in game.

Do I have to uninstall everything and install from scratch? =___=

Maybe there is some solution to make video play normally in game?

I have tried reinstalling codecs from scratch (I guess?), it did not help.

uninstall all codec packs and see if that works - there's no point uninstalling one codec, then installing another and then trying the game.

Done already. I have tried the game at any point of these codec manipulations. While restarting my PC from time to time.

Last Game with Codec issues, I never even got to run, oO

I have a different version of Windows, so that Codec Pack for K Edition of Windows, or whatever wont work for me, oO


I think Win10 is just an Upgrade from Win7?

Its not a Full Install...

So without Win7, you only have Win10, which is a Partial of Windows...

Which is why things like Codecs, Wallpaper Themes, Audio, Cursors, & other things are missing on peoples Computers, oO

You aren't by any chance using the N version of windows?

if so, try installing the corresponding media foundation pack based on your version of windows:

if you aren't 100% sure what version of windows you are running, open settings, then go to system, then about.

Did not help.

As the game can play video (in its broken way) even without codecs, when I can not play regular .mkv-file, for example, I can assume it has some codecs included, but they are not working properly.

Game works fine on my travel laptop, even though more or less all the same stuff is installed there... Maybe I will just use it. It has not very good specs and has some FPS drops though, so it would be good to understand what is wrong with this video playback failure.

hmm... in that case, in the nVidia control, under video settings, does adjusting video image settings and color settings to all use nVidia settings make any difference?

Or in windows power settings, does changing windows power settings to high performance make any difference?

I have tried setting different options for Catherine 3D settings in nVidia panel. That did not affect video playback.

Setting power to Power Saving makes a problem slightly less distinctive (video is fast, but not as fast as in Balanced and High Performance modes).

For me video plays fast even on integrated graphics.
