I mean, releasing in january a port for the Classic version when you are releasing this february on consoles the updated one feels almost like a scam to me.

Many confused costumers will feel betrayed once they learn about Full Body.

Reflecting on things, I probably prefer the series before 3's changes and only remember FES so fondly because my preferences were so much different when I played it a decade ago.

2 is more like SMT and it's also very hard for western players to experience it.

I enjoy the tone of 2, but I strongly prefer the gameplay from 4-5. 3 is really good but the lack of character control can suck my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

1 and 2 are very SMT, but I enjoy no party control and I feel both thematically and gameplay wise offers more while offering less than Persona 4 and in some ways Persona 5.

A lot of people are complaining about party control, but I only remember that being an issue at the final boss. Did I just get lucky w/ the AI or something?

It isn't luck its about actually understanding and properly using the commands which many people seemed to have ignored or not used properly.

it's not about whether or not it is possible to beat the game without party control.

it's just a stupid ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mechanic that detracts from immersion more than increasing it, given how ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid the AI is.

The AI is not stupid if you use commands, even though the AI will follow the commands almost to a fault depending on the situation it can be positive or negative, but the negatives can be easily mitigated by changing commands regularly. It adds to immersion because unlike Persona 4 and 5 for example, it truly makes the protagonist seem like a leader instead of just being called such, but also acting like one by taking the role of deciding the actions of his peers. A huge part of Persona 3 is how the cast slowly gets closer as the game goes on as they aren't all that close at the start, but you can use more commands as the game goes on and able to get pretty specific with late game commands showing their evolving trust in you as a leader and in each other.

How? Sega Europe did not know Full Body was in development while working on the port thus this released before Full Body even released in Japan. Also, this was for them to dip their toes into Atlus PC porting.
