No Denuvo? Is hell freezing or something?
What's going on? I thought Sega is a bully and Atlus is butthurt about their games being on PC? Does it have Denuvo?

I looked through the EULA and I found this concerning:

16. TECHNICAL PROTECTION MEASURES

The technical protection measures of the Product may require you to download certain data to your device in order to authenticate the Product. If you disable or otherwise tamper with the technical protection measures, the Product may not operate properly and you are in material breach of this Agreement.

Knowing Sega's previous use of Denuvo, I'm not adding this game to my wishlist just yet.

Iirc all games have that in their EULA.

Denuvo is usually cracked within hours and has many issues a good game will always sell why punish customers :)

But isn't Steam technically a DRM?

So the game would be unplayable unless you have steam with your account on a random computer

Budget and sales expectation are extremely low for this release. So Sega did not bothered to waste money on that DRM. This is basically a test to see how well an Atlus game would do on PC.

Yes, but it's easy to crack.

This is EXACTLY what I was coming here to post. This is the company that put Denuvo into Tetris, so I didn't think we'd EVER see anything from SEGA without it again.

I just added this to my wishlist, and I don't even have a real desire to play Catherine again after playing it when it was new; I'll buy this just to send a message to SEGA about not using Denuvo.

Steam's Offline Mode is indefinite and portable. You can literally copy and paste your Steam installation folder from one machine to another, and your account and all of your game licenses for installed games will be included, no online checks necessary on the new machine.

Denuvo is server-based; no server access, no game. It's completely different, and it makes every game that uses it a rental.

I don't want to risk to lose a Steam account because of that...

DRM sucks indeed, but Steam isn't as bad as Origin or Uplay...

This release having no Denuvo is a great thing if you ask me.
A bit of a shame I already spent quite a bit on the winter sale.

I still remember the BS they pulled with Sonic Mania, I'll pick this up in two weeks when they don't add Denuvo without telling anybody so they can't refund it.

No Steam itself is not a DRM. There's DRM in Steamworks if developers choose to use it, but Steam itself is not a DRM. There's plenty of DRM free games being sold on Steam that you're free to do whatever you want with and have no necessary ties to Steam after purchase.

The fact that people still fear Denuvo is hysterical thank you for your comedic value to the community.

If Sega will sell us the remake later down the line, its in their best interest to have this release be as accessible as possible.

That means even pirates or people who are on the fence can test it out with the pirated version.

More people playing/interested in this means more potential people buying the full priced Full Body remake/remaster version later.
