Resources in chest acting like its in your inventory
Quite some time ago I was playing Palworld and I got to experience a system I truly found amazing. when you're within ur base radius you have access to all the resources in your storage containers that is also within the boarder of your base. I think a similar system would be perfect for this game.

Storage chest that is within a workbench will allow you to craft and build with whats in the storage chest. You can also set the storage to linked or un-linked so you can choose if you want it to be part of shared resources or not. Im honestly feeling spoiled after experience the one in palworld and it feels horrible in every other game now when I must run back and forth just to be able to build, this would be an amazing addition to this game I think. what are other peoples thoughts?

I would like to suggest an alternative to this. Crafting storage containers. Containers that are only allowed to be built within the same range as the crafting upgrades and allow access to the resources within. They can be crafted near any crafting station, including cooking stations (the one that you cook meat on). We could even restrict it to specific items that are allowed to be placed in them that are used with the station it's being placed near. With the hammer, we can use any resources within containers near the respective crafting benches (forge resources near a workbench won't be used unless it's also within range of the forge). This way, we can store a lot of resources and don't have to worry about lugging heavy items back and forth or playing hide and seek within containers trying to find resources.

Could just add a tick box when opening the chest that is un-checked on default that when ticked it is added to the closest crafting bench. That and be able to name the chest so you can see a text on them, at least the large ones.

this !! and make the stonecutter an upgrade for a workbench (stonecutter can be upgraded by workbench add-ons and build all the stuff from a workbench but the workbench can only built workstone stuff. Add crafting storage too.. and if there a roof on it, give your hammer infinite durability cos you can repair it at no cost

It's not like it wasn't suggested for years already, but yeah, would be grand to have it one day.

Haven't been active with this game since EA launch. Never thought of this system until I was introduced to it in Pal World and I was amazed by the system as it just takes one huge annoyance out of the equation.
Rather not have this in the base game. Makes storage management completely irrelevant. Maybe a special and expensive chest you can get after deep north could work so you still have to use normal chests for the most part.

I think the best suggestion is to have one additional workbench upgrade that acts as a chest for that workbench. So you can have some items at the ready and don't have to go overweight to craft an expensive item. But it should be the size of the normal wooden chest.

EDIT: Grounded has this and while at first I liked it, I later realised how much it took away. Grounded has both quick deposit to nearby chests and craft from chests.

From what I know the devs are strictly against this kind of chest/inventory management type and I personally don´t want it in Valheim either since it would be immersion breaking for me.

I recommend using mods if you want this.

Check out this mod for example:

Options to select is a preferable compromise. People who want it can enable it, people who doesn't can opt out. Should still be a vanilla feature. I Don't like having mods in games as there's too much clutter around modding and its not a part of the game itself. I was forced to use a dev command mods to be able to manage my dedicated server and that itself urks me (Mostly as it again should be a feature in vanilla).

Either way Pal world ruined me and I can't fully enjoy survival games without this feature now and Im not interested in modding as I want people to be able to join without prerequisites. Not to mention that when updates happen the mods need to be updated (most likely,) and that can take a while.
