Cart needs an overhaul
Pretty much as the title says.

I've never known the cart to be so annoying to use. I originally built my base in the middle of a meadows with no access to sea. I've started moving base to somewhere accessible but also a good place to build once I have access to stone blocks, but moving from one base to another is a joke.

The cart takes damage so unnecessarily often. The random terrain generation... Every little bump just eats away at it's health. I could understand if I was falling down a relatively high hill, to the point stone was visible for example, but I'm "hitting" what's basically just a small dent in the ground. I feel the threshold for damage needs to be tuned so natural generator of "flat" terrain doesn't just eat away at the damage.

Secondly, if it flips, it's so annoying to flip it back. There's no angle you can jump into it that forces it to land back on it's wheels. It also gains this weird level of rigidity when it's on it's side, making it want to stay perfectly straight. We need some form of "Flip" button, or to actually be able to demolish it instead of beating on it till it's health hits 0.

Third, Weight. Obviously the more stuff you have in it, the heavier the cart will be, but I feel it should be determined by the actual weight of the contents, not just how many slots are filled. I emptied a bunch of chests that had resin, sapling seeds, carrot seeds, basically non-over-encumbering items. The amount of items inside of it increase the visual load (crates in the cart) and it was just so difficult to navigate with. The only good thing about the weight is that the difficulty prevents the damage from the terrain for some reason.

Maybe add an animal for the cart like a horse. The cart's main use is transporting large amounts of items on land, which I personally use currently for ore, stone and wood. It would be cool to be able to have a fast maybe even weak HP mount that could attach to the cart and help move items faster.

Well.. two things.

The cart gets harder to pull the heavier the contents are. It does not depend on the slots at all.
As soon as there is roughly 2k weight in it, you will have a hard time to pull it up a 26° slope.

And regarding the flipping, damaging, breaking and so on - did you actually clear a path? If you move things with the cart you should either have a road prepared or have a hoe with you to flatten terrain as you move forward. You might also want to remove rocks and bushes in your way. Because... it's actually hard to lift two tons over a bumper.

Agree on animals able to carry it. I would like to see an animal bigger than the boar and smaller than the lox to fulfill that purpose, and there's already a cart model for the lox with Haldor so it could be added.

But, as it was said, if you are to move items with the cart, you should make a road, a resource route if you will, otherwise you are just setting yourself up for frustration. Also there are some mods that help like BetterPaths (i think that was the name) wich makes building paths better as they give you some buffs.

Best things I could come up with yet were:

1) Use shift+left click with the hoe right in front of you while moving forward asnd flattening ground to create a somewhat softer slope

2) Remove bushes, trees and little rocks on the way.

3) And for really steep places in between: Divede the road in two parts. One leading to the bottom of a wall, the other going on from the top of the wall (like this: _____|¯¯¯¯¯ ).
This will require two carts and involve loading everything from one cart to the other, but it's the best way to get heavy things up a few meters that I could find yet. It's also quite useful if you have your base near a harbor but the harbor is at sea level and your base is a few meters up.

Or just make a work bench now and then. Repair the cart, dismantle work bench and move on.

I really wish you could have a pet Lox to haul it around, then it might actually be useful. Right now, it's more hassle and frustration than it's worth.

Having the strength belt should ATLEAST give it a huge boost.
