Planting the Ancient Seed.
How about the ability to actually plant an Ancient Seed and grow yourself a friendly Greydwarf? I mean, we are already taming animals and growing food, so why not to have a sentient moving plant at the base?

For the sake of balancing the game this seed can be planted only in Black Forest.
Or make slightly crazy thing and make it biome dependable - in Meadows you can grow a Greyling, Forest - regular Dwarf, Swamp - Shaman, Plains - Brute.

I like the biome dependable thing.

I dunno why, I kinda want a dumb and useless greyling walking around in my base.

I honestly always thought that this was possible, until I found to my dismay that it was not. :(

Plantable resin farms, please.

How about a 'useless' greyling wearing a tuxedo?

I'm envisioning a totally useless greyling butler. Helps you plant stuff, but manages to dig up the entire garden. Helps you repair things, but end up damaging them more. Helps you put your socks away, but end up tearing them up and wearing them on their ears...

Ah, like tree sap.

When I was quite a lot younger, I saw a commercial for Kokanee (Canadian beer), or was it Sleeman's? Anyway, saw some girls tap a maple tree and out came some lovely cold lager. I was disappointed that was fictional... [cough]

When the soul of a murderer or a great sinner rots under the ground, it makes a hollow cyst which draws rock and wood and moss to it. It gathers up the peat into flesh, braids reeds into bone and takes rags for skin.
It should not walk but when the night comes it walks. Should you who read this see one with a sword to your hand, lance it and let it out. Or put it to the torch, for it fears the flame.
