Let us disable raids please
I feel safer exploring swamps or mountains than in my own base. When I'm away I understand that it's a dangerous and hostile world, but I don't want that in my base.
When a raid appears, I run away, get killed twice and the raid ends. It's not fun or immersive.
I like to spend hours building and designing my base, and it sucks to get raided when I'm enjoying the peace of my home.
I respect people who want raids, but please only put the option to remove them for people who don't like them.

Build a defense around your base, with a tiny bit of research on this forum you will realize you can make your base immune to all raids except the flyers.

Yes of course, I understand. And I know that there is a mod to remove the raids. But I don't want to waste time making walls. If the monsters can't climb a 1 meter wall it just takes me out of the immersion. It's an IA glitch. I love combat and challenges, but not in my base.

Well you are basically asking the devs to take away an important part of what they describe as a brutal survival game. So if you are not willing to dig moats, build walls, or mod the game then it has become a you problem.

build on an island, make a moat, fortify defenses. Sometimes, Raids bring beneficial resources.
UncleAcidic May 13, 2022 @ 6:40pm
its worth saying that the events can give you extra resources. the drake attack is a pain but all those extra freeze glands kept me in eyscream for a good while. "you are being hunted"? try, "you get a bunch of pelts and trophies and meat". if the forest didn't move so much early on, i wouldn't have a chest full of eyes for portals and the aforemeantioned eyescream.

turning them off for the sake of building open towns or large bases after endgame would be a good idea tho

I don't think his request is unreasonable, Wiz. He isn't asking for raids to be removed. He just wants the option to turn them off. Yes, it would make it a different game but so does playing on a server with others as opposed to playing solo. He just wants the option.

That said, not being a programmer, I have no idea what that would be asking of the devs - how much work that would take to implement. All details would have to be worked out to be compatible with everything already written into the game. It's easy to say, "Make it do this." without any understanding of what it would take to do that.

For myself, I am delighted to have this terrific game to play. It's not perfect but what is? It could easily occur that future updates may well add more content to the game and make the overall game less fun. I've seen that happen, so I'm content to enjoy it as it is and reserve judgement on what develops until it happens whenever it happens.

While this is the answer, I hope this is never a toggle because it is a defining point of the game, much like there is no magic for the Viking to wield which makes it utterly unique, like a baby unicorn.

If events will take place "in their own biome" (you know what I mean) the problem will be fixed at its root: you only have to choose where to place your base, to have the "wanted level of threat".
No need of console commands (AKA cheats), new players (in MP servers) will have no problems too (that's mainly why I suggested it, time ago).
This mechanic is already in place for some raid events: it's just to extend it to all of them.

English is not my native language, and my message may have been misunderstood. I have not demanded anything. I think that this forum is to express opinions with respect and debate with the community.

I love this game. I love the music, the graphics, the combat system and the construction system. I haven't enjoyed exploring so much since I was 12 years old and played minecraft.

I think the developers are demigods for making this game with such a small team and I don't want to delay new content. When the game is complete I'm going to stuff it full of mods like a turkey, but right now I just want vanilla.

Thank you all for the advice, for now with the command console I think it can be fixed.

this would also fix an immersion problem I have with Valheim. If a plains is hundreds of Km away from your meadows main base and separated by an ocean, I just don't see the horde (who are crazy bad swimmers) being able or even willing to show up at your door for a few minutes just to die or run away. Nice of them to leave all that black metal in my yard tho
