This provides some details on how maps are generated from the master map:
https://www.reddit.com/r/valheim/comments/qere7a/the_world_map/
There are Mods that do this as well but having it official wold be really good
So that would mean: after a certain distance south there' nothing but ashlands?
That would totally destroy the concept.
I like the idea of world size settings, but I don't think that valheim's map is suitable for infinity.
The last 2 biomes are in their place and have their size in relation to the rest of the world on purpose. Infinity would take that purpose away.
Also, there would be no falling off the edge any more.
And, if ashlands seem too small, you can still create a new world, take materials for a Drakkar there and sail for e second ashlands.
-----
Well, from a certain point of view we already have sort of infinite maps, as you can change worlds with the same character as you like.
No Just like the way mistlands spawns among other biomes , ashlands whould have a chance to spawn
Falling off the edge serves no real purpose
the limited size rite now of ashlands makes it far too small for multiplayer which is why this is an idea for multiplayer
making a new world for multiplayer is not a great way to keep communities together having to always start over once the small abount of ashlands is taken out means servers are being reset or restarted frequently
if ashlands and other biomes are able to spawn more freely and forever as you explore out then communities can enjoy a game they dont have to always reset keep their builds and keep exploring
