Valheim
Fine wood walls.
Honestly we need some new building pieces that don't come directly from satan's a**hole.
black roof tiles taking tar from the one shotting blobs, and black marble requiring the Mistlands is great and all but something cool but get-able early game would be nice.

Fine wood walls,
just a lighter wood wall so you could use beam and walls to make patterns stand out.

Thanks for coming to my ted talk, PEACE.

Agreed, some more variety would be nice. Maybe also some more crystal stuff. Proper walls/structures and furniture
A mod does exist that adds finewood walls and furniture, but they are mainly just re-textures, the wood walls are just a different colour, that's it.

So unless someone wants to actually put some effort into a mod that adds different structures with unique models/textures, we're stuck with what we have in vanilla.
I think this is a great idea. Fine Wood is relatively rare early game but also definitely farmable. This would also make the plains more endearing to farm late game.

How do you farm fine wood? I don't think fine wood is 100% renewable since the seed yield is not enough for full replacement.
Its not 100 percent renewable, but it is at least replantable.
I had a server group where there were a couple of dedicated tree farmers who consistently replanted seeds on a tree island and we never really ran out of fine wood, which was surprising because usually I dont do that and end up having to go ranging for more of it at various points of the game. They also kept us completely in stock of regular wood too, planting like 50-60+ trees at a time.

So diminishing returns, yes. But not completely impossible to get more of it if you are diligent with the seeds.

Normal wood is farmable yes since when you cut a beech tree you get, on average, more than 1 seed.

This is not the case with birch and oak. Doesn't matter if you're "diligent with the seeds". If the return is less than 1 seed per tree - and it is - you will need to go find new trees somewhere and eventually you'll run out. I know I'm splitting hair here and of course fine wood is, in practice infinite, but strictly speaking it is not renewable.

I don't want to sound pedantic btw - I just wanted to clarify in case there was actually a truly renewable way to get fine wood :)
Nope, not that I know of!
Unless those chairs outside of the black forest towers eventually respawn, which I dont think they do.

Oak trees have a 40% chance to drop 2 acorns so oak is 80% renewable (setting your resource sliders to anything above normal makes it 100%).

Birch have a 50% chance to drop 1 seed so setting resource drops to 2 makes them 100% sustainable.

Above and beyond all that the trees in the plains are all birch. Even at default settings for drops and clear cutting every bit of plains on the map it would take hundreds of hours on one map to eliminate all sources of fine wood even with the 50% diminishing return rate.

I'll quote the part of my message that you may have missed: "I know I'm splitting hair here and of course fine wood is, in practice infinite, but strictly speaking it is not renewable."
a bark swamp wall would be nice

Just pointing out that with the addition of the sliders (which are a dev addition and not a mod and so can be considered vanilla) fine wood is now fully renewable (or not) as the player chooses.
I agree with fine wood walls.

They create a brighter, more elegant atmosphere.

However, just like there are no crystal walls or floors, developers may not think that anything other than dark walls and floors is appropriate for Valheim.
Oh, so much having each wood type... not just fine but ancient bark & all the flavors. And paint... we need paint.
Instead of walls, I'd have adorned screens or partitions, plating for normal walls or marquetry, like some furnitures in medieval churches, but would it still be viking?

we have some of that, but more would be welcome.
The vikings encountered many other cultures and took back stuff from them, traded for or stolen, and adopted some of it into their own as they copied the ideas. But accuracy isn't the point of this game - you can build a euro feudal castle or a treehouse.
