I tried so hard to use the marble arches in a creative build recently, creative, so i can use whatever the heck i want to try and make it work and it just...doesn't. It's bad enough the stone arch apparently has the structural integrity of wet toilet paper so i thought maybe I'd have a usable arch other than the darkwood one, but the marble arch just doesn't line up to freaking anything correctly. Best i could do was line them up side by side along the entire edge of two opposing sides of the building so they could at least line up with each other and that still kind of looked stupid, just better than basically every other option i tried. They are too thin for the 2x1 pieces, too fat for the small marble columns and too thin for the thick ones (and doubling them up on the thick ones makes them too fat instead), nothing lines up to their inset correctly either. I had to place two iron pillars side by side and then overlay darkwood on the iron to make it basically 1.5 thick darkwood (that looks weird with an overlapping pattern) to fit the inset because a regular darkwood is also too thin, 2 side by side is too thick, and the black marble options are basically all too thick.
Come on Coffee Stain, do us a solid on this!
Another example is that we got nice slopy marble blocks but don't have the corresponding beams and roofs to trim/decorate them.
You know, thinking about it that way, it might also fit the front of an oven...that could be neat, even if prefer my kitchen to be a bit brighter.
I really don't understand designers...
"Here's all the stone pieces!"
"We made black marble pieces that look great and aren't just reskins of the stone pieces!"
-Can only make pyramids with it-
"Can we get reskins of the stone pieces please so we can complete our bases without looking wonky?"
"We made a lot of other decorative things!"
-Players can't build them.
Players like the game, we love base building, we NEED more pieces.
I keep finding that I need several more roof pieces for different combinations but they don't exist. I need the 2x2x1 black marble because that's how I built my base with the stone pieces but I can't replace them cause it would reduce the performance of my base due to needing way more black marble pieces. I don't need pyramids cause I literally can't build those lamp posts you find in the Mists...
Clipping. Texture CLIPPING! You can't attach anything to the stone pieces without stone clipping through the thing you attached... AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!
You can't put a floor piece on stone, stone shows through solid wood... You can't add a sign to stone, stone obscures the text...
We need a Polish & Pieces update. And a BUILD CAM. Not being able to snap a piece just because the camera is bumping up against terrain 3m behind your character is super annoying. Adjust the snap points to be looser so we don't have to spend 10 minutes trying to get that one piece snapped in place so our build doesn't fall apart.
the arch insets are a mess, but the other pieces -- needs a square wall just because alternating 2 pieces is a royal aggravation. You can free float the floor and sign so it still touches the stone but doesn't clip. I agree that you shouldn't have to do that. Marble is smooth and less prone to those issues.
