Silver Sword v Mistwalker
To date all armour and weapons have improved with each Biome. Its part of the reason we strive to complete.

I still think the Silver sword is the best sword in the game.
Disappointed with Mistwalker damage and effect: definitely needs a boost.

?????
Silver sword isn’t even better than the blackmetal sword, plus the mistwalker has frost damage, which is the best effect in the game, let alone the weapon itself just deals more damage than the silver sword.

I cant see that the clearing effect even works at all. But as a weapon, its fine: what is it that you don't like? Some people are running the damage per stamina values and finding that the new weapons are coming up short at times, esp if playing super mario mistlands edition, but actual per hit or per second the new ones win, its just the heavy stamina use can be a problem (esp that bow's drain / sec).

damage types can make something 1 tier lower as good or better than the next tier up, esp if its a double take (eg weak to frost and strong vs pierce enemy would make frostner notably better than porcupine).

Silver sword has that fancy fencing sword feel, but I haven't met anything the mistwalker doesn't carve into little pieces. Despite the blackmetal swords massive slash damage mistwalker still beats it.

I was highly disappointed with the jotun bane however, it's objectively worse at chopping down trees which is the primary purpose of a one handed axe.

And if you want something even more concrete than empirical evidence, the jotun bane has a chop value of 70, while the blackmetal axe has a chop value of 60.

I don't know where you're getting chop values from but the wiki is often wrong anyway (this is a company that can't keep their own bug tracker up to date, lol, nevermind the wiki). Lvl2 jotun bane has lower damage numbers to trees vs lvl4 blackmetal, often taking a whole extra swing to destroy a tree/log - it also uses more stamina so you can't chop as often. Combined it's objectively worse.

Lvl 4 blackmetal axe has 69 chop, lvl 2 jotun bane has 73 chop. And before you claim the wiki is wrong, this info is coming directly from mods on discord that have access to in game values

That's massively different to 70/60... also throw in stam drain and the jotun bane is objectively worse. Even more so at those new numbers, whichever ones are true.

60/70 was based on them being lvl 1, at level 4 and 2 respectively the split is 69/73

Ah I see. But yeah at best there's no difference to the number of swings required, but higher stam drain means less swings. If it's supposed to be better then I guess the whole stam based system is broken, as it stands I can see no purpose for the jotun bane - seekers physical resistance maybe? Maybe as the core of a light load out to chop trees in the mistlands, but I'd rather get those trees down just as fast without the dangerous stam drain - and seekers don't need to die as fast if you can parry/outmanoeuvre them.

EDIT: also at lvl2 jotun bane is going to have lower durability.

JB feels like a weapon not a tool. As with all the lvl 4 vs lvl 2 issues it may feel a little lacking vs the black metal given the stamina diff, but its 20 more damage and not sure if that includes the poison dot? Add in the new chop attack and axes may be a viable choice again for those wanting 1 inventory slot back, for anything not resisty to toxin.

Jotun's Bane should have been a 2H Battle-Axe to be worth it. This double "bladed" look doesn't make sense for its current animations set, too. On top of that, it has the worst damage type in the game. Poison ticks very slowy and does not stack like other elements. It's not worth crafting except if they introduce an enemy/boss that is weak only to poison & slash so it may be a boss killer in the future.

To the OP, no silver sword is cleary inferior to mistwalker, except if you are dealing with low health enemies to save stamina.

+1, that's what's missing - thank you.

Mistwalker its like an evolution of frostner , but with slash damage
Have like 75 slash and like 65 frost
In a wet enemie that will be a one shoot ...
