Bonemass fight not fun.

Quit playing this game today after enjoying it and sinking god knows how many hours into it. The bonemass fight is not fun. We had potions, turnip food, iron armour, iron shield, stagbreaker and iron mace. Got the thing to 3/4 damage before me and my partner just quit. The is nothing fun about having to cheese a game in order to win. If the only viable strategy is to get the boss stuck on something and cheese it that is just bad game design. Don't think i'm going back to this game any time soon. I don't know what the devs were thinking.

pop best food and keep poison resist meads on ya

dont thrust what others try to imply - nor do the cheese way or cover bonemass in a bazillion arrows
bonemass is not as scary as people tryin to tell you

did you have blunt weapon skill leveled?
upgraded the gear?

I was thinking to just use my bow, after making an high treehouse, having a couple of portals at hand, just in case of quick retreat.
That said, I'm not getting which the "suggestion" or "idea" stay, in this thread: OP, are you sure you wrote in the correct forum?

you don't have to get him stuck to win, this is flawed thinking.
blunt weapon, healing potion, high health food x2 stamina food x1, upgraded weapon/armor... and not much else needed to win whether he gets stuck or not.

Bonemass is the only boss who will give you a half decent stand-up fight. All the others almost ignore you for beating on their faces.

Eat best meal.
Drink meade.
Drink poison protection.
Use best mace.
Use uppercut swing. (MMB)
Run/hide, heal at fire/portal, use stamina/healing potions as needed... attack again. Repeat.

We (2 player) beat bonemass yesterday in 3 minutes, no deaths. I recall it taking about 90 minutes the first time we played (this is perhaps our 4th/5th time facing him). Don't waste your time shooting arrows. It can work, but it's incredibly slow.

You can beat bonemass without cheesing it. Iron armor,Iron Mace, Poison Resist mead, and Double Serpent food makes you more than a match.

Cooked Serpent Meat - 70HP and 3HP/tick
Serpent Stew - 80 HP and 4HP/tick
Turnip Stew - 18 HP and 2HP/tick

That gives you an overwhelming 193HP and 9HP/tick regen. This is roughly the same amount of HP people take when exploring Mistlands, which is currently the last biome.

If you are wondering how to get the serpent meat you can easily kill a serpent with 2 people and iron bow and any arrows. If going solo i suggest iron bow + iron arrows and cruise the borderline of islands and ocean. Be sure you can point your boat (with wind) toward land and shoot the serpent chasing you. Once you get near shore you can finish it off since the serpents are hyper aggressive and will attack you even close to land. (just make sure the land you are pointed toward is black forest or meadows)

The trick to Bonemass is using the hoe before the fight so you only have to fight the boss and not the terrain, too.

At that point, as others have said, pop a poison resist mead and use your best foods, then parry and bash until dead.

Also helps to use a fully upgraded iron mace - I tried with a spear my first time, and that took forever, I do not recommend it lol.

bonemass is vunerable to blunt
so maces and hammers work best - in my first attempts i always used the wrong weapons

run close to it, bait out one attack, dodge it by running out of reach, get close and get 1-3 hits in while he recovers and if you got poison mead and a bunch of health you can sneak in 2 full combos while he is doing his poison aoe attack. the troll armor is excellent for this
