Planting / Farming berry bushes, mushrooms, etc.
According to the devs, planting & farming berries / mushrooms / thistles / etc. will not be added to Valheim.

They want players to go out into the world to find & discover new things, while experiencing the feeling of successful foraging through pickable wild resources.

This is a Megathread. Threads with similar topics will get merged with it.

Agree with pretty much everything. I think like building objects, a yellow/red square will appear around the seed/sapling you want to plant. That way, you're pretty much planting via a grid. Maybe once you plant one seed/sapling, then the next seed/sapling you plant is 'locked' into the grid automatically next to the last one? Much like snapping building objects together, except with padding/margin around the seed/sapling.

Do I make sense? I feel like I don't make sense sometimes.
This has been asked for many, many times so I assume it's on the radar. I myself did it some time ago: https://steamcommunity.com/app/892970/discussions/2/3113669366294385508/

I think a "locking" grid is unnecessary... it would be good enough to know where it grows and where not.

That said, the Devs should maybe take a look at Dragon Quest Builders 2 for some of the stuff. In that one, you have a hammer. Later you get a hammer that you can use to smash a 3x3x3 grid... and then a 5x5x5 grid.
Instead a "locking" grid, I would rather want the ability to plant more at once then one. Maybe like in Dragon Quest Builders 2, where the character will "charge up" the skill, freezing for some moments until it is done. So it is not "faster"... just a little bit more convenient in the sense of inputs.

I think... what is good for the gameplay is not easier, faster or dumbed down stuff... but instead convenience that doesn't necessarily make actions way faster or save a ton time... it is just a convenienter way.

@Mr B.
I hope improvements are on the radar. I do not mind to plant 200 carrots, but in a Survival/Builder game like Minecraft or this here the gameplay should be early on to do stuff tedious, one by one... and then later gain abilities that make things a little bit faster, more convenient and effective... so the player can fulfill needs for food faster and concentrate on other things.
What I mean is like you struggle to farm food early on and most gametime is used on that... and then you gain some item to get that chore done faster and now you can start to explore more because you are not using most of the day just farming.

Yeah, you just want easier and dumbed down, but not faster.

You didn't get it, at least that is what your post tells me.

Automatically check if plants can grow (dumbed down), charge to automatically plant in a grid (easier), but specifically not asking to have it any faster. I understood just fine.
when planting trees it already displays a "not enough room to grow" or sth alike when it needs more space. its just an attribute next to the name when hovering it so it would be consistent with the rest of the game if this gets extended to all plants as well as a good qol improvement. +1

Let me rephrase it. Yes you literally summarized what I wrote here. But you failed to understand the point I tried to get across.

Maybe you could explain what the point of your post here is. All you did was rephrase what I wrote... twice.

Oh they do? I didn't plant trees yet. I just find it annoying to plant 100 and more carrots... and never really getting any feedback as to do I do it right. It would be nice if there was some indicator helping with the planting some, I do not ask to have a grid baseline where stuff "snaps to".

Only *after* planting, which is pretty pointless.
Cultivate Berries
They really should give us the ability to cultivate berry bushes. I hate having to wander around all over the place trying to find the ingredients I need. Would be much better if we could grow more crops ourselves.

There is a mod for that, if it really bothers you.
If you remember to forage whenever running around during your 'exploration' times you can typically keep pretty well stocked on them. Shrooms are the big one for me that I keep my eyes out for, Blueberries earlier in the game.

devs said it will never be implemented so maybe modding is your only option
bummer, being able to cultivate berries would be good for endgame content as it would let you focus on gathering the new materials instead of continuosly strolling through the first biomes. but it would definitly have to be impossible to do with the tech of the first few biomes and be endgame tech by itself

The end game foods don't use Raspberries or Blueberries, so...
