Controller controlling.

I know we're probably hard at work on Sep 16th content but I would love to see some controller support happen for this gem of a game.
We often play in different rooms through the Steam Link just because we're lazy as hell and don't give two squirts about "m/k iz bettr, git gud" vapidity but the support for controllers would be nice, regardless.
Selecting stuff from inventory is a freakin nightmare on a controller and the buttons in the default setting are among the dumbest I've ever seen.
Square makes me sit down? Why da fawk does square make me sit down?

Potentially a great game and all but c'mon. Update support for us plebian controller users, plz.

I use an xbox one controller with no complaints...sure it would be nice to be able to individually remap these buttons...but i've gotten used to it without any issues with inventory or otherwise.

If you play through Big Picture you can define your own controller config and remap your buttons from there I think. Might take some tinkering if you want to fine tune button mappings for every possible situation, but basic changes should be easy enough to do.

As a former console peasant who plays on a controller exclusively I personally don't have problems with the defaults however. I find them fairly intuitive and reasonably well thought out in this game.

My husband plays VH using his controller this way and he confirms this works well for him too.

Yeah I get it, I'll tweak some with the custom configs and see if anything gels.
Guess I'm just whining because it still seems a bit clumsy with some buttons requiring remaps.

i still don't have controls, the game constant turns left, i have disconnected everything and can't even put up with this for 5 minutes. can i calibrate? what the heck i can't go in a straight line or do anything it seems

You should check steam controller settings. There, you can also calibrate and/or enter a deadzone
