Those Jagged Walls in Sunken Crypts
Before any assumptions are made, I've played through the content several times already so I'm not stuck in the swamp or anything.

Just a rant here about those jagged walls in the sunken crypts with specks of muddy scrap pile very very deep into its crevices. Sometimes they do contain iron scrap if you DO happen to hit them( and to hit them you have to resort to a plethora of shenanigans) it often seems like pure luck as aiming directly often hits the unbreakable surface.

So I guess I'm hoping something be done about them for the future and into 1.0 as quality of life. It's obviously not game breaking or urgent but iron is after all, the most used metal in the game. If these can be cleaned up without so much difficulty, moving on to the next pile or crypt would be faster. It's just really annoying to run into them and leave them knowing there's still something to hit.

So yeah, maybe a smoother wall that's easy to clean up? It can have more of a dome shape or square shape like the ones with yellow mushrooms.

Agreed.

I can't be bothered to waste minutes trying to get every last bit of these piles anymore.
It's just not worth it especially since missing the actual pile and hitting rocks instead wears down the pickaxe (I'm not against this as it's only logical, I'm just pointing it out).

Exactly, it is not worth trying so just move on. This is not a real problem.

+1, or adjust mining so it can strike through solids to hit the gooey minerals inside them

i add in here, i want ALL the iron from the crypt
so i suggest adjusting the piles stuck in the jagged walls so the player may obtain it all

+1

The whole point of this Suggestions & Ideas subforum is to... wait for it... make suggestions and share ideas. Which is exactly what the OP here has done.

I did say it was not game breaking or urgent, right? But seeing as it's still early access, I'm bringing it up so that maybe they could still find time before full launch to improve it somehow for current and future players and minimize frustration. I also offered suggestions on how to go about it.

I don't know to me it is just totally a non issue. It is just like real mining. You follow your main vein, but if you come across a small pocket that isn't worth mining because it would take too much effort they skip it.

depends if more is available nearby sure some dont mine the small bits

hmm i dont have that prob, can use pickaxt, just aim crosshairs...whats the problem?

The problem is the pickaxe is not a hitscan weapon and sometimes you get bits of iron deep in the wall geometry where no swing from any angle is gonna connect.

Bites gamers right in their map completion glands.

Just finished clearing one muddy scrap pile in a sunken crypt. It was one of those occupying a niche in the crypt wall, not a passageway. It had two of those little bits nestled deep in crypt wall crevices.

Spent a good five minutes maneuvering in the niche, seeking different angles of attack. Finally managed to hit an break both little bits of scrap pile. My reward for clearing out those last two little bits? No scrap iron, no leather scraps, no withered bone, nothing, zero, zip, nada.

Is it worth getting wrapped around the axle over a few exceedingly difficult or impossible to reach bits of scrap pile? I don't think so.

You don't understand, the reward is them not being there any more.

This! Although rng is rng. Sometimes there is iron to be had, but it can also be other junk or a whole lot of nada.
