Valheim

Valheim

Karve could use some changes to make it more relevant late game.
For reference, Karve is the second ship you can make in Valheim, after the raft and before getting to the Longship.

In it's current state, the Karve is pretty much completely inferior in most aspects compared to the Longship. The Longship is much faster, has more HP, much more storage space and seats available. It's only disadvantage is the deeper draft making it easier to get stuck on rocks and sand banks.

It can't be excused by being cheaper either, since it require only slightly less materials than the Longship.

For Karve to keep being relevant, my suggestions would be:

1. Be cheaper by reducing slightly fine wood and deer hide cost. Longship could be made more expensive too be requiring a full stack of fine wood and ancient bark and a bit more deer hide. It is 2-3 times the size of a Karve after all. Basically augment the gap between it and the Longship.

2. Karve should be much faster to be mostly on-par with the Longship in term of speed, allowing a Karve to keep up with a Longship by tailing it. This would make it much more appropriate for scouting and much more of a compelling ship to use.

3. Small increase in storage space from 4 to 6 or 8 slots, making it relevant for small cargo runs or outpost construction.

4. When cargo weight eventually become a thing for ships, the Karve should be impacted more significantly by weight than the Longship. Impact would be to reduce overall speed and agility and increase the draft.

100% agree. It should have at least double inventory space for use to haul copper and tin. Instead you end up jank ass carting it down hills and across streams and other crazy ♥♥♥♥.

It makes ZERO sense that you could drag 10x as much in a cart as you could carry in a 20 foot long boat...

I'm glad someone think the same.

My main reasoning behind is while i like the Longship, it would be nice to have a smaller, more agile ship for more mundane tasks such as exploration and small cargo runs. The Karve would be perfect for that if it didn't suck at literally everything beside size and draft compared to the longship. And like i mentioned, the Karve doesn't have the excuse of being cheaper. The longship is actually a much better deal for what you invest in ressources.

You should be able to row the karve into the wind and it should be way faster than it is for sure....
