Using all my resin.
I would like to purpose and idea where you can apply an amount of resin to wood structures and they no longer take weather damage. Since resin is so ungodly common I think this could make it a more useful resource.

I love how split people are on resin, there are people like you and me that have it overflowing, and others that are angry that they have to farm it for their torches.

+1, would be neat to be able to protect exposed wood (and get rid of the ungodly amount of resin i have accumulated)
But wouldnt it make more sense that we would have to make tar as a means of protecting wooden structures? Thats how old stavechurches are protected, by being "painted" in tar..
Also, you cant really "smear" resin out like that, it hardens quickly once it seeps out of timber.
Not against the idea though..

I'd favour a new building recipe for a water immune core wood pole and beam instead, requiring resin or tar in addition to the wood.
Torches burn their fuel quickly, tar should last months/years.

I don't know about resin collected from greydwarfs and graylings :steamfacepalm:, but pine resin has dozens of uses that include waterproofing just about anything.

I am not overly concerned with realism. I am however trying to use a resource that is already in the game, abundant and trying to keep my wood structures from decaying. I feel like adding another resource when there is one present is more complex.

Tar pits is actually listed as a potential update on the official road map.

I believe this is a Fantastic Idea for a overly common item, to have a new and unique use for it. As it stands, some structures and builds not stone related could have a real merit from not being half decay'ed green and able to be exposed to the elements. I think the Idea of applying a fixed amount of resign to structures that are exposed or not sheltered would be an easy addition, and highly received by builders in the community.
