Candles

Title, Most medieval lighting was done with candles. Candles produce less smoke/soot and provide enough light especially if lighting a polished metal surface reflecting the light. Candles would be a great alternative to lighting interiors with smokeless candles but the trade off being much dimmer light. Yes smoke is a mechanic for a reason but i'd still like some lighting alternatives.
Some ideas:

New ingredient boar fat or beeswax for candles and other potential crafting

Candle, Just a simple low light candle maybe 1/3rd the light level of a torch.

Iron candelabra / candle stand with three or more candles to provide a little more light than a single candle, refueled with new candles maybe 1/2 the light level of a torch.

Polished silver lanterns / candlesticks with lanterns providing closer to torch level light maybe 2/3rds but in a 70 degree direction or fancy candlesticks for table settings that give regular candle light but look fancy.

Blackmetal and silver chandeliers that give full or a little more than torchlight but of course require higher end materials and will require a nearby stepladder to replace burnt out candles.

If you think this is a good idea post some other suggestions and if you think it's a bad idea post some alternatives.
