The game needs this more than anything else for the simple fact that the only work around to the game being too dark for some people ends up making everything else on their computer too bright/washed out.
Edit: Some people have made comments about the game being bright enough, or even too bright already. Remember that gamma/brightness settings work both ways, Everyone on both ends of the discussion benefit from an in-game setting control.
This poses particular issue when playing during daylight hours; reflections & general brightness of real world surroundings makes the darkest portions of the game uncomfortable to play.
A simple gamma setting would alleviate this issue.
It's evidently an issue for numerous others, as there are mods that specifically address this issue.
Out of curiosity why not just let mod do the work and not have the designers put in additional code (I am not a coder) that could bleed into other areas of the program?
Let the expert modders do their thing and take advantage of that?
Whether there exist gameplay mechanics to mitigate the darkness is irrelevant; you need players to be experiencing the same base-level brightness in order to correctly balance any mechanics that offset it.
It's very straining on the eyes, and I was wondering if you there was any option to soften the sharpness of the light in this game.
Until then, you'd have to adjust gamma outside of the game, or use a mod that allows you to change it (of which there are a few).
Just found one on Thunderstore.
Thank you for the tip!
EDIT: just fired up the game with the gamma mod installed.
O.O WOW!!
it didn't just improve the visibility at night it brought out some colors and textures I've never noticed before. This mod just wen ton my "must-have" list.
Now I think I better check the video drivers settings. This makes me think it's defaults might be borked to begine with.
Thank you again,
please someone tell me how to change the text settings if it's possible, or recommend me a mod
I need to change it to an accessible font and much larger size
I'd also like to know if it's playable without being able to read any of it
I can't tell if it's because I can't see or if it's because I'm new to the game
Thanks in advance for anyone reading/commenting on this ^-^

Mumble is a VOIP program, like Skype or Teamspeak. The server component is called "Murmur". That mod adds positional audio for Mumble... which allows you to hear your teammates' voices from the direction their character is in.

I'm looking into it, but it's not a website I trust, and I can't read it
thank you for the idea though :)
