Valheim

Failed to connect
Cant enter friends server. This issue keeps happening when I join him or he joins me. Our internet works fine on any other game, such as Fortnite or CS2, but even when we manage to "join" no trees are rendered or there is a "ethernet connection" symbol flashing in top left corner and then we get auto DC'd from the server. We just made a new server, and tried multiple new servers, so it is not a server issue.

The very first test you should do, is tell the host to disable crossplay option before starting their world as a server and see how it goes. If you will be able to connect with crossplay disabled, it usually means that at least one of you doesn't have direct access to the Internet, rather that they are connecting though some kind of strict NAT (VPN, CGNAT) which are incompatible with crossplay, or that they might be using some kind of network optimizers (e.g. blotware with lenovo laptops, blotware that comes with hamachi) which don't work well with Valheim, as Valheim requires lots of data to be sent (more than Fortnite and CS do).
I am having this same issue. My husband and I have been playing together for months and have not had this problem until today. We have tried rebooting both computers and modems several times, in addition to disabling cloud save and re-enabling it. Nothing so far has worked. Disabling Crossplay has not worked either.

Using mods?

Try disabling crossplay, but also deleting all previous server/world entries from favorites tab where you look for available servers. Then attempt connecting via Steam invite only. If that still doesn't work, is seems like a serious problem, and is probably related to some 3rd app blocking your connection, which might be active even on only one PC.

However, first test new world and new character to ensure problem isn't related to saves.

A good test is also attempting to connect to some random server in the community tab in order to see which PC can at least reach password prompt.

If only one PC fails to reach password prompt for some random server, that PC likely has the problem. I recommend opening task manager (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC) → go to performance tab → on Windows 10 you should see blue link at the bottom called Resource monitor, and on Windows 11 you would have to click on three dots icon to open Resource Monitor → open it → go to network tab → Processes with Network Activity → You might see some network optimizers or VPN services running here which might be causing problems

For easier and faster help with connection issues, I recommend reaching out to us on Valheim official Discord here[discord.com]. It's easier to share screens there.
