Valheim

Dedicated server, Game server connected failed message on cmd.exe
While trying to start the server via start_headless_server i keep getting the message
Game server connected failed
it seems to spam
I have not had any problems until the patch.
I checked all the port forwards and double checked them.
I configured more inbound and outbound rules.
I updated the network driver.
The server shows up locally on the steam server list it is just no one can connect and it wont
actually connect via steamCmd.

At this point i am lost i been working on it for a day lol.
Any ideas?.

same here, hosting on a remote machine. Tried disabling firewall, no luck.

Not running a server myself, but this might explain why I haven't been able to get onto my group's server today or yesterday.

I was running the server for free via steamcmd on a seperate PC. I even went as far as paying another 17 bucks to buy another copy of the game just so i could access the verify files option for a dedicated server under steam library\tools. That did not work either. I have no idea what is going on as i have followed every troubleshooter possible.
My other pc is in the DMZ also.

I started getting the same issue today. Yesterday it worked fine and today the console just spams "game server connected failed".
I can't connect to it using the server list (it's in my local network) and so no one else outside of my network can, so likely it's not a port issue.
When I try to just generate a new world on the server I have the same problem, so it's not a corrupted world save either.
Reinstalling Valheim DS and running a file integrity check didn't solve it either.

Anyone found a solution for this?

Restarted my server and got the same issue as well.

It's possible your external IP has changed. Sometimes that happens if you aren't subscribed to a dedicated IP by your internet service provider. Just open up your browser and check to see if this is true or not by typing My IP in your favourite search engine.

Mind you, I don't list my dedicated server on the community MP list. So I don't know if what I said above makes a difference or not. My friends have to connect to my server directly via the game's Join IP function.

Additionally, the way I mitigate my players from knowing the exact IP address they're connected to, is by adding an A NAME record in my DNS settings for a subdomain.

I don't think that's the issue, me and others can still see our server on the list. However when trying to connect after the game starts we all get the "game server connection failed" error.

Even so - if the provider changed my IP and it caused an issue how would I go about fixing it?

so uh, it wasn't the IP.
Quite frankly I don't have any idea what it was.
It just randomly works now
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I just tried again after weeks of giving up and i just realized my servers PC isnt showing up in my network map but it has internet connection. Maybe this is worth looking at. I am going to try and figure it out.
