Valheim

Valheim

Everything in the world disappeared
After the recent patch I loaded Valheim to play with a friend. I chose the server he hosts, entered passcode and connected. I appeared on our base, except there is no base there now.

Everything disappeared - buildings, the forest, rocks. The world is an empty plain now.

My friend does not have this problem. For him the world is normal, and he doesn't see me connecting.

After a short while I get disconnected from the world as if from connection problems. The problem is not present on any other server - my other worlds do not appear empty. Pls help

Me and my friend had this exact same issue!!. I kid you not we were looking for a solution for 2+ hours we copied files, uninstalled and reinstalled the game and nothing!. I think I read somewhere either on here or google that turning off the crossplay option just before you open your world would potentially fix it. IT WORKED OUR WORLD IS BACK!!. Try this and see how you get on it with, hopefully it works for you too!! :steamhappy:

Scratch what I said about boats. I see now that you mentioned your friend not seeing your getting on the server at all, which means what you are experiencing is a different issue, and more in line with what Huxie06 said, meaning it's a network issue. You are essentially not connecting to their server at all, which is why it's empty. Usually caused by strict NAT (VPN) or CGNAT (ISP restrictions). The easiest way to solve this is to disable crossplay. Mods can also cause similar issues.

Same thing happens to me, the game has been working perfectly for years, but recently I ran into this problem: I see my friends' world as an empty plane. I've already tried disabling crossplay, starting a new world, triple-checked the internet settings... Nothing so far

If your friends are hosting the server, they are the ones that need to disable crossplay.
On which platform are your friends hosting the server, and from which one are you trying to join it (Steam Windows)? Do you get the disconnect icon in top left when joining their server? Do you get both IPv4 and IPv6 results when you perform this check[test-ipv6.com]? Using VPN? Anyone using? (if you have more files than these[i.imgur.com] in the installation folder you are using mods)

Both players on PC (Steam and Xbox windows app), tried joining both ways(Me Joining my friend's server and vice versa), We both get the disconnect icon when trying to access each other's servers. I only got the IPv4 address (pending to check on the other end) and we do not use VPNs or mods either. Even tried creating a new map to discard any issues with world generation but didn't work either. So far it would seem that the only hope is to wait for the next update and pray that it starts working again as it had flawlessly done so for so long.

Anyone from you two ever installed any mods? Your most likely related to crossplay then as it can't be disabled on Xbox PC app. What you should do first, is identify who has the problem, and for that I would recommend coming to our official Discord server at: https://discord.gg/SrnHydAd

If a Steam user wants to play with console/XboxPC user, crossplay must be enabled on the server. Crossplay doesn't work properly in Egypt (government blocks), VPN (each of you should go to start → type and open device manager → network adapters → check if any adapter has VPN in the name), Linux (latest Steam BETA breaks crossplay), certain ISP providers that put their players behind multiple CGNAT or behind strict CGNAT can block crossplay, which can be identified by going to start → typing cmd → launching command prompt → typing and confirming the command "traceroute 8.8.8.8" and then looking how many hops you have with addresses that start with 192. 172. 10. and 100. This is example of a person with problematic ISP CGNAT[i.imgur.com], which is best resolved by calling the IPS are requesting removal from CGNAT.
