Thanks for the info. I stressed out too soon ^^ I wonder if you could help me, i have a server on my local NAS, which is running with OMV. I can't access files through SMB on W10, my server is throttled by docker portainer. Any help on this ?
Sincerely,
If you run it locally, your game save in Windows is located here:
YOURUSER is the name you gave your account when you first created it. The "AppData" folder is initially hidden and needs to be made visible. Please let me know if you need help with that.
On your client, I recommend running ThunderStore to manage your mods. It makes it MUCH easier then doing it all manually.
I hope there a players here with more knowledge than me on Docker or Linux in general that are willing to help you out. Good Luck!
Could you elaborate on what the new and old directory for saves is? Do you mean the worlds and worlds_local folder? Does this mean you need to not only delete the content of the folder but also the folder itself?
The world runs, players can load into it, but it's a barren landscape with no trees or plants or anything. Just hills and water and mobs (like greylings and deer). This is a backup from late May, of a world we've been playing since January.
Edit: Just verified, I moved a local world from "world_local" to a dedicated server in the "world_local" folder (running on the same PC) and it worked flawlessly.
Edit2: This is pure vanilla, of course.
Not sure if you were responding to OP or me, but I am running 100% stock and having this problem.
That said, run a Steam file verify over BOTH your PC and the server. Please forgive me for asking this, but this has been happening:
Have you ever used mods with Valheim? It is important that you answer this correctly, as there could be residue files left over from the mods, even if you think you got rid of them.
Another thing that may sound ridiculous to you, but trust me, people sometimes don't do it:
Have you restarted Steam, your computer or your server?
I've restarted both client machines, the server, the server process, and the Steam client (including the steamcmd headless client on the server).
