No audio on OpenGL
I have a machine running Linux Mint and I noticed when I run the native OpenGL version of the game, the game has no audio. Audio from other applications plays fine, and the audio in the settings is turned up to maximum, but the app doesn't even come up on the list of applications playing audio.

I think the audio works fine on Vulkan, but I can't test because Vulkan causes my system to crash. This isn't a game issue nor a Linux issue though, I've had that issue with my computer for years on all kinds of games, even before I switched to Linux. Changing to OpenGL stopped the game from crashing, but this issue isn't much of an improvement.

I haven't tried using the Proton version of the game yet, as I'm really hesitant to use Proton when a native port is available, but I really don't want to have to resort to using Proton just to get audio. Does anyone else have this problem too?

I run Valheim on Steam OS. I can bring news about my settings on next week if nobody's answered you.

I'm running ubuntu 20.04.6 with xfce4 and both the normal and the opengl version produce sound. I've not bothered trying to play with opengl, I just checked for the music on the start screen.

It's a known Unity engine issue on Linux platform. Either play with proton compatibility mode + vulkan, or after the game gets launched, open your sound setting and reapply your sound output device.
