Build Won't Load on PC

I tried to find an existing thread I could comment on but couldn't. I am brand new to Steam and the gaming world but I understand when buttons don't work. I purchased and started Valheim. When I started I could get the build menu. Now I can't. I tried changing the setting to a different button/mouse click and changing it back and nothing. I did the verify files thing, checked my antivirus and rebooted everything but I can't make the build menu come up. Just when I finally figured out how to build things I can't. Very frustrated :(

Thank you MaCarBre. It set my default Build at Mouse 3 so I will reset everything and post back.

It didn't work :(
I obviously haven't gotten very far without a work bench so I'm going to start from scratch and see if that helps.

Build menu only works if you have the hammer equipped first. Does your character do the blocking animation at least when you press right mouse button (mouse2) when the hammer is not equipped?

Now I'm SUPER frustrated. I uninstalled the game and reinstalled. I deleted everything. My character, my world and I STILL can't get my build menu. All this AFTER I reset the controls

Just to be clear, the correct steps would be:
1. reset the controls
2. rebind block to mouse2
3. rebind deconstruct to mouse3
4. rebind build menu to mouse2
5. bind nothing else
5. test if blocking works by holding mouse2 when hammer is unequipped and you are bare handed
6. test if build menu opens when hammer is equipped by pressing mouse2
7. notify me about results of step5 and step6 so I can narrow down the next fixes
8. If you need more help, I suggest coming to the official Discord (Steam bugs channel), as this issue is very much fixable as you can see here.

The game is early access, so sometimes similar bugs can sneak in. Next patch will probably come during next week.
