Valheim

Internet issue while playing
I have a windows 11 and started playing this weekend. I'm having an issue related to the game where while I am playing the game my internet gets disconnected (not from any hardware points, I checked). It only happens while playing Valheim and making switching the settings to automatic connection seems to alleviate the issue. BUT, it realy shouldn't be disconnecting my internet connection at all. So though I'd report that one.

Could you check which router model do you have? What score do you get when you perform buffer bloat test[www.waveform.com]?

Latency =
11ms
DLA is 106ms
UPA is 327ms

Speed =20.3 Download & 22.2 upload (Megabites).

Bufferbloat grade equalled D.

D grade is not that great. It might be that your router can't handle the amount of data Valheim is sending. Which router model do you have? Connected over Ethernet or WiFI? Try lowering Steam browser pings per minute in Steam settings → in game → set them from 5000 to 250.

Thanks for that link. That's more useful than SpeedTest.net. The OP's DLA and ULA are quite high, but why does playing Valheim affect his internet when he's playing solo? Maybe the game is drawing too much power resource that turns off his PC's ethernet card? I wonder what his PSU wattage and grade is.

As a reference point, Bufferbloat rated me at grade "A", with unloaded 3ms, DA 16ms, and UA 3ms. DS at 275Mbps and US at 286Mbps.

It needs to send network data at increased send rate to relay all that's happening within game logic to other players. When playing with multiple people, default send rates are sometimes not enough, and players report less lag when increasing them by modding files, while on other occasions such as this one, the default send rates are too much for some modems to handle. People play with all kinds of setups.

Sorry for the belated reply. Work got busy and then I got into the game some more >.>

Annyway, I dunno what my router model is. It's from Heybroadband (british isp) if that helps any.

I'm also using a wi-fi extender so that may be a bottleneck. I'm gunna try to pings thing. I think the problem is poor optimization on the network so I'll have to get my isp to help me sort it >: ] Thanks for the help fellas.
