The map of whatever a character has explored is stored in another folder which is accessible (in game) only to that character. That is why characters cannot trade maps in vanilla Valheim.
Someone has probably dissected character files enough to know where the map data is stored and how to decode it. There is probably a mod for it.
i haven't play "online"
i only play solo. /singleplayer
I have three chars, each within their own worlds.
so char is 1 is in world 1 etc.
In "Valheim Plus"-mod you can share the world data between players (automatic sync of discovered land and optional marker sharing system)
1. the crow's suggestions/hints were reset (exclamation point above head like I had never talked to it) - this includes the various stones with writing (warnings) on them.
2. The mini-map has been reset as if this is the first time I'm playing the game. However, the generated world (thus far) appears to contain all of my camps, buildings, etc. I am missing my gear (had full bronze gear). I have yet to check all other bases so perhaps my gear is there, but I also had a bronze weaponry and tools.
3. Definitely appears that my character was 'reset' in some form or fashion. My skills were reset to 0. [updated with the realization my character appears to have been reset with the difference that my inventory contained more than the starting inventory].
I'll update as I see other things 'amiss'.
[Update]
In the end. I didn't have any issues at all.
I was loading up a multiplayer alt which I didn't realize at the time. Both characters were about the same in development, the only difference was that my alt hadn't traveled on my map yet. Loaded up my main and map is showing just fine.
