Sap extractors vanishing

This has happened to me a few times now, where all of the sudden one of my extractors just disappears.
Both times work benches were intact near by, which suggests they weren't destroyed by bugs.
It is a closed server so no one logged in and stole them.
The first time it happened there were no resources anywhere to be found on the ground near by.
The second time, I managed to randomly pick up the collector while crouching and walking into the root. However the black metal was no where to be found.

I'm wondering if they are falling through the root and sitting on the ground inside the root, just out of reach?

This can happen. Saw it a few times when building stuff around/in/on swamp roots.
You can sometimes clip the 3rd person camera into the roots and even see the drops there...

But I never lost a Sap extractor. Have you checked the logs?

probably around the time you teleported near them / they were loaded in-game.

just had this happened, the best bet is not having a portal right next to extractors. I had to do 20 mins of raising ground next to the root and had my item recovered from falling off from raised ground.
