Valheim HD on Linux with R2modman?
Am I doing something wrong or is this not working? I downloaded it from Nexus then added the zip into R2modman and it seems fine but I don't see any difference. If no, what's the absolute best-EST mind blowing graphics mod/setup for Valheim (for Linux)?

Edit: Oops, sorry for not checking the sub forums before posting.

I can't tell if something's wrong with me or with that sentence lmao

I don't know what r2modman is, but, if all you want is modded textures, it's likely easiest to just do a manual install. In Windows, it's quite easy, and I imagine it's the same on Linux. Just copy the bepinex and texture files into your install dir.

r2modman is just a mod manager I suppose. What would happen if I have Bepinex on the mod manager and these files in the game's directory?

BepInEx is a meta mod that is needed for almost all mods out there. Without it, they cannot function. It's a framework of functions mods can call so they can use Unity, the game engine behind Valheim.

No BepInEx, no mods, I'm afraid. Not sure if there is a Linux version available.

r2modman (if it's anything like ThunderStore, the mod manager I prefer on Windows) should resolve those dependencies automatically, but it looks like it doesn't.

So you need to read the mods page on Nexus on what exactly the mod depends and what you need to install.

Warning! Modding is done at your own risk. IronGate is currently not supporting mods, so when a patch or update to Valheim gets deployed, your mods are most likely going to break, crashing your game!

Pretty much 99% of all bug reports posted on the forums here are either about broken mods or broken world saves.

Well, mostly it's BepInEx and Jotuun (another meta mod) that break and need to be updated, which usually happens fairly quickly within a few days or so.

Still, be cautious and learn how mods work and what they do.

Edit: I just checked and BepInEx is indeed available for both MacOS and Linux!

Edit2: I would highly suggest reading the wiki for BepInEx as it explains in detail what you need to do if you don't use a BepInEx aware mod manager (Not sure if r2modman is).

I got BepInEx installed on R2modman. Apparently it's not even a requirement for this mod tho. And it does resolve dependencies just like I said, this 1 mod doesn't wanna work and I can't find ANYTHING on it not working for seemingly no reason.

Well, the only thing I can think of is reading the mod's page on Nexus on what its requirements are.

Edit: Found that on the mod's page:
Drag and drop into your Steam\steamapps\common\Valheim\ folder and overwrite what is there.

Also, this mod is a work in progress and might not even have that many hires textures from what I can tell!

If you really want to go for this, I would try the "Willybach HD Valheim" mod instead, that requires the "CustomTextures" mod from Aedenthorn to function.

Ok, thanks. I will check this out later today

Ah, I thought you were talking about Willybach's HD Valheim. That is very good.

I'm currently running this, which is also very good: https://www.nexusmods.com/valheim/mods/1930

I'm not particularly happy with this one's stone and that sky tree's repetition on the textures. Thanks for the suggestion tho. On the other hand Willybach changes the colors quite a bit as well. Maybe if I can edit them easily I'll grab that one and change the colors back myself but I'll have to check later. Also, any idea why Willybach hid his mod from nexus?
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Oh very nice, thanks! I just found some archived download from nexus before this.

Also I see on these screenshots that the author made some changes from the old one which make it more like the original textures in terms of colors :O Very nice!

Yes, I like it. I'm not playing modded all the time, but when I do, I do it with the 2K Landscape textures.
