Valheim making my computer auto restart
First i just want to know if other ppl are also haveing this issue as i do not get any error msgs on my computer booting back up so i cant narrow down the issue the only thing i get in my logs is that my computer powered down unexpectedly. The time for it to restart is completely random as one day i wouldn't be able to make it past the start screen and the next i was able to play for maybe 2 hours before it started crashing my pc. A previous issue i had was the game auto setting my resolution to a crazy high amount around 4000x3000 maxing out my gpu and overheating it and just changing the resolution would not fix the issue as every time i loaded my world or restarted the game it would set it back to the insanely high resolution again, eventual i found the solution was to permanently set it lower via my NVIDIA control panel, while that fixed the high gpu issue the game still randomly resets my pc. my computer drivers are up to date, my windows updates are downloaded, i have tried using vulkon, i have verified my files, i have deleted all valheim data off my computer and re-downloaded with cloud set to off (♥♥♥♥ the cloud) to try to get it back as if i just bought the game, and nothing will get the game to run without eventually restarting my pc ( i am able to play many other high requirement games such as elden ring, tiny tinas wonderland, halo, maneater, etc running on medium to high graphics no issue) so case in point is any one else having these kinds of issues and does any one know when the next large bug fix is to see if i can play the game again.

1. What are your gpu and monitor? Most applications and your drivers should be fine figuring out your native resolution, and I assume that your monitor's resolution cannot be 4k:3k of native resolution. If apps fail to recognize it, that points at some driver-level and/or hardware issues.
2. Sudden PC shutdowns, in 90% of cases, point at a faulty hardware/bad driver installation.
3. I'd also recheck if your power supply module has enough juice for your PC.

native is 3840x2160 valheim is the only game that was jacking it up like it was all others games were playing fine, drivers are up to date and working fine for all other games and for the last time why would VALHEIM a 1 giga bite game be using so much power that my computer crashes trying to play it while any other much more demanding game runs like a champ i had over 200 hours in the game back when it first came out never had a issue, stooped playing for almost half a year came back to check out the updates and now have no end of issues trying to play the game this only points to the updates that have been put out are messing up people computers and possible the cloud save being implemented as well

I've been having the same gameplay issues, it used to be fine a year back but now for some reason my computer will randomly just power off. Its frustrating but understandable if its my own fault. (This is the only game where this is an issue)

*Computer specs if needed*
Graphics Card: Radeon (TM) RX480 Graphics
Moniter: Generic PNP Moniter
Processor: Intel Core i5-6402p CPU 2.80 GHz
Ram: 8 gigs

(I don't know anything about computers so any advice helps, thank you)

Strange. It doesn't do that to me, but I don't have a 4k monitor. So that might be it. Do you still have the old monitor? Can you double check if the issue is gone once you replace your current monitor?

I think I can write an app that can choke down your CPU, GPU and all the RAM you have, in about 5kb of size. You underestimate the power of a bad code :papyruswacky: or a good code that is just trying to do its job(but since it is Unity, there is no good code).

this is the same monitor ive had since i bought my pc (barely two years old) and have never changed it out before and while that is great offer ima have to turn you down chief on the app, while i want to trust people doing good nature things ive been stabed in the back before and ive already given up on it at this point and im just gonna wait it out until the devs put out bug fixes and new updates for the game, but many thanks and im glad to know im not the only one who had issues like these.

You can try the steps below. This will clear all registry entries for Valheim, which should hopefully fix your monitor issue.

1. Turn OFF Steam Cloud in the global Steam settings.
2. Uninstall Valheim through Steam.
3. Restart your computer.
4. Go here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common
... and delete the folder "Valheim" if still present.
5. In the Cortana search box type "regedit" and hit Enter when it shows up. The program should start up.
6. WARNING! The next steps are dangerous! If you don't feel comfortable messing with the registry, leave it to someone who knows what they're doing.
7. Clear the contents of the address bar of the registry and paste the text below into it.
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\IronGate
8. You should see the key highlighted in the left hand window pane. If it is NOT highlighted, or something else is highlighted, do NOT continue!
9. Now for the dangerous part: DELETE the "IronGate" key by hitting the "Delete" key or by right-clicking on it and selecting "Delete".
10. If the key was successfully deleted (it should no longer be visible), close the registry editor.
11. Restart your computer.
12. Get back in and start up Steam.
13. Install Valheim.
14. Start Valheim through Steam. Try both standard and Vulkan.
