Valheim
Anyone else getting micro-stuttering?
So just got the game recently, and when playing it I get small juts like it stops for a brief second then continues. I don't know if there is something wrong on my end or the games. But I have a Nivida 2070s and have turned V-sync on it to fast and it on. I've switched to low graphics and nothing, but other games have been fine. Anyone know what could be the problem?

Thanks.

I have been having the exact same problem and have same GPU as you. I havent seen many discussions on this topic and I wrote one myself but i cant seem to find it anywhere... weird. i hope it is a problem on their end and it can be patched because I cant find a fix on mine. It is very annoying and can freeze my screen for 1-2 seconds sometimes.
Game is just currently unoptimized in early access. I'm sure they will iron out the kinks over time.
Same on Gigabyte 2070 Super Windforce 3X OC.

I found that doing the following helped:

- Adding an exclusion in my AV (Bitdefender) helped
- Set process priority to high
- Run fullscreen
- Enable Fast sync within Nvidia Control Panel
- Disable V Sync in game but leave the Nvidia setting

FPS, whilst still unstable, went to 60-75 but at least the 1-2s lock ups disappeared.

Game is still very much EA performance wise.

Where would I set the process priority?
Open Task Manager

In 'Processes Tab'
Right click the Valheim process, select 'Go to details'

In 'Details' tab
Right click the process then select 'Set priority' within the sub menu. Select Realtime or High for best results.

Hope this helps
I'm getting micro freezes too. Not all the time but every so often.

My specs are..

I-7 10700k
Asus rog strix Z 490F
Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB 3200mhz Memory
Gigabyte RTX 2070s Windforce OC
WD Blue 1TB NVME.2

Latest Nvidia driver.
Seems to be alot of 2070s cards with this problem 🤔 I will try some of the previously mentioned methods and see how it plays after that. I understand its ealry access and optimization will get better, I just hope its not a long wait. Still enjoying the game though.
It's just a function of how the game loads in world chunks. It seems to work like minecraft where chunks of the world are not generated until you get within a certain distance, at which time they are generated, and that's when you get those long-ish pauses. You'll see them all the time when you're exploring into the "fog of war" because it's always generating those new chunks. You should also notice that running around in explored areas have no such stutter.

I have the 2070 Super, but have a Gsync monitor. My experience has been extremely smooth and mostly stutter free. It worth the extra couple hundred bucks if you can afford it.
I do have a little stutter when the game is loading a new are as I run forward for a while. I think that's normal. It's very brief and non impacting, at least in my experience.
Same problem on a 2070. Every other game I have V -Sync settings fix this. Almost like a horizontal tear in graphics when moving view around slower.
Same problem here. 2070S, Ryzen 7 3700x, 16GB Ram. Stutter/Freezes intermittently. Obviously stutters when the world saves but does it pretty frequently otherwise. Small stutters when loading in new areas is acceptable but complete lock ups for 1-2 seconds happens occasionally. 2070S problem? Or just early access stuff? People with lower end rigs can run it no problem so I’m a bit confused.
Same issue here, i have refunded the game and will play it again when they fix those issues... also my eyes hurt from the graphics being so bad for an eye
Same issue here. Running a super old 7950 hd card and turning it to the lowest setting doesn’t do much. Great game though
i'm 90% sure it's just garbage collection. hit F2 and look at the instances. does your game freeze when the number drops? the good news is, nothing is wrong with your system. the bad news is, there is nothing you can do about it.

Not really, also not becasue "it is early access". It is their VSync and you can proof it by looking at your monitoring. I have an hardware display just for monitoring and the main thread is never bottlenecking, same counts for the gpu. Just use adaptive vsync or VRR and set a fps limit in your driver and it will be solved without killing your GPU for max fps. I have the same problem with Garry's Mod and use the same solution.
