I found that doing the following helped:
- Adding an exclusion in my AV (Bitdefender) helped
- Set process priority to high
- Run fullscreen
- Enable Fast sync within Nvidia Control Panel
- Disable V Sync in game but leave the Nvidia setting
FPS, whilst still unstable, went to 60-75 but at least the 1-2s lock ups disappeared.
Game is still very much EA performance wise.
In 'Processes Tab'
Right click the Valheim process, select 'Go to details'
In 'Details' tab
Right click the process then select 'Set priority' within the sub menu. Select Realtime or High for best results.
Hope this helps
My specs are..
I-7 10700k
Asus rog strix Z 490F
Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB 3200mhz Memory
Gigabyte RTX 2070s Windforce OC
WD Blue 1TB NVME.2
Latest Nvidia driver.
I have the 2070 Super, but have a Gsync monitor. My experience has been extremely smooth and mostly stutter free. It worth the extra couple hundred bucks if you can afford it.
I do have a little stutter when the game is loading a new are as I run forward for a while. I think that's normal. It's very brief and non impacting, at least in my experience.
Not really, also not becasue "it is early access". It is their VSync and you can proof it by looking at your monitoring. I have an hardware display just for monitoring and the main thread is never bottlenecking, same counts for the gpu. Just use adaptive vsync or VRR and set a fps limit in your driver and it will be solved without killing your GPU for max fps. I have the same problem with Garry's Mod and use the same solution.
