All of the buildings are missing now

Ever since yesterdays update i've been able to get my server working again but now all of the buildings are gone. Its like the game just started over on my Seed world. Any ideas how to restore it? Its the exact same file in the "worlds_local".

I have the exact same problem. I logged in now, after spending HOURS yesterday moving everything to my new base and now I spawn in the plains where my base is supposed to be, but there is just normal plains. My map still shows everything i explored and marked, but everything i built is gone. The game starts as a new map on Day 1 where is was in Day 150+

I've already tried to help you and I gave you the steps that needed to be followed. Have you made sure that your server is up-to-date?
Do you have both a "worlds" and "worlds_local" folder?
If you haven't messed with the "worlds" folder, your world should still be in there unharmed. All you need to do is stop the server, clear out the "worlds_local" folder, and restart the server. It will load your world from the "worlds" folder and place a copy of it in the "world_local" folder, which is now the new folder the world gets stored in.

I really highly recommend doing regular backups as you have seen sh.it can go wrong (and yes, IG goofed big time on this one), not only on the server but also on your computer at home.

Yes, I followed what you said and it hasn't restored my map.

Well, it seems you must have somehow deleted your world that was in the "worlds" folder on your server. You are sure it is gone? That would be unfortunate, but now you learned the hard way to always have a backup ready.

If your world is truly gone, there is no way to restore it.

I downloaded an app to let me return anything that was deleted in the recycle bin. It suggests I didn't deleted anything.

Not necessarily deleted by throwing it in the recycle bin. You could've simply overwritten the file with a broken one. No app is going to save you here. My sincerest apologies, and I really mean that, but it is your fault for not doing backups.

And yes, IG is at fault here as well. They released a version that was not tested for this specific circumstance. They should have. But that did NOT delete any of the worlds.

cloud save game rolled back to day number 1

we played and we were thrown out, then we go in and see that the world seems to be new, but the tags are all preserved, the saves are cloudy, the question is how can this be?

This is exactly what happened to me tonight. I've spent more than 750 hours on this game and have explored multiple continents and built multiple bases with so many resources mined and refined. My game crashed on me tonight and when I reloaded it, the seed world loaded brand new and none of my things are on the server, just what is on my character. The map still shows explored with all of my markings, but I went to where my buildings are and they're all gone. I'm devastated. I don't even have a "Worlds_Local" folder. What do I do?! Who can help? I'm on the verge of just quitting this game entirely and never playing or suggesting it to anyone. How could I, after losing everything?!

Please include as many details as possible describing your situation:
- singleplayer / hosted / dedicated server?
- active mods / previous mods / no mods ever?
- did you install and start patches 0.209.8 / 0.209.9 or did you directly go to 0.209.10?
- Have you tried to restore worlds from the old or new backup system?
- (whatever else you think might have been a relevant factor)

Steamcloud error

While playing on my laggy world all day for some reason, a friend and i took about a 2 hour break, when we hop back on everything like per usual, our world is rest to day 1 no buildings, no boss boots, but everything we explored on the map and tagged still there along with what ever we had on and in our inventory? how does this get fixed?

Sadly hats going around with a cloud save update so unless you backed your world up i dont think theres anything you can do unless they can retrieve it for you somehow

On the lower left corner of Valheim's startup screen is a white button labeled "View log file."

What it actually does is open the folder containing the log, which is also the data folder. Navigate up one level, right click on the "Valheim" folder to copy everything. Make sure this folder is included in your backups.
