Valheim
Nice overheating and CPU usage
Yo! How did you guys resolve overheating issues? I play some rather intense games like Minecraft with high resolution ray tracing, but even that does not make my CPU go wild and produce heat more that 50C. Valheim instead gives really high temperature and processor usage numbers, and the rig keeps so much noise. Got RTX2060 Super, and intel i5-9400. The case is HP standard, the computer is Paviliong Gaming setup (which has been absolutely superb in performance)

C) other games do not cause my temps to rice that much nor need that much fan power. For example, im now running photoshop, Teams, a few Chrome windows and Stellaris at the same time
Because u never played any GPU demanding game till yet.
This thread is pretty much a joke about temps. If your cooling can't handle the maximum load of your CPU can do with AVX instructions then your system is unstable, there isn't really much to discuss about it. Alternatively you can underclock, most BIOS lets you underclock with an offset, specifically when AVX instructions are used.

-------

For FPS and server lag with huge bases, it's from buildings and terraforming, only that is actually the game's fault. You can see the instances by pressing F2, over and around 10k is already huge for the engine.

ok well thats all fine and dandy except that games like 7DTD which is a voxel game gets no where near the temps that this game is pushing. I havent had any problem with temps but the e fact that my fans are reving up tells me that it could be an issue and frankly i dont see a need to push my rig needlessly for this game.
Hopefully they fix it soon because there is no way it should be climbing that high.

Actually that doesnt sound good for 7DTD. Because its not using the GPU to full extend.
PS: You never played a FPS with uncapped FPS
You can still limit your fps in some drivers

Overheating is always 100% your system that has an issue. Do PROPER CPU and GPU tests and then fix the issue.

The bigger question is why we're supposed to overclock, redline and go full throttle on our processors but cap the output. It makes about as much sense as drag-racing Formula 1 cars with the parking brakes still on... or using potato-grade CPUs like Radeon to run an 8GB RAM NVIDIA-grade Unity game.

What's the excess output being diverted towards? It doesn't cease to exist simply because the dev says you don't need it.
Who is saying you should overclock your CPU? That's only something you should do if you have the headroom, system, and cooling for it.

Edit:
Sorry, I fell for the bait. I remember your other posts now. lol
Cheers.

D) solution was to cap FPS, unlimited FPS really was unlimited, the computer used all potential to calculate graphics and game engine

So your computer wasn't overheating and it was fine, infact the game was too good at using your computer so you capped the frame rate not to waste so much power. Unlimited FPS is infact generally always unlimited, that's why it's called unlimited lmao.

But really 50c is like, arctic for a Intel Cpu. Like, extremely low. For instance most people prefer to stay under 80c, but your fine as long as your not staying above 90c all the time. Also noting your OG post something like Minecraft with Ray Tracing wouldn't hit your CPU at all. That's almost entirely GPU load. So of course your not noticing cpu temps.
dafuq is this thread? running an i3 w/ an r9 380 and am just laughing my ass off at all these comments. apparently throwing a bunch of expensive parts into a case doesn't mean you know wtf is going on lol
Tried this game in three different high to high-end setups and GPU load was always far above normal. Beyond being unoptimized there's something that just doesn't smell right. And it doesn't matter if it runs smooth and at 144fps, this game pushes GPU too far and it doesn't feel safe on the long run. So, refunded and will keep an eye for future updates/patches.

Define "normal" as it tends to change depending on the workload

Right, so a smooth 144fps shouldn’t nearly max out a GPU is what your saying there. Cmon man, that’s BS and you know it, even if it’s not an EA title

That's pretty funny actually, I'm running the game in 144fps with RTX2080ti OC and my highest temp is 65c
Yeah, 2080ti may not be the highest performing card, but it will sure as hell heat up pretty fast if not cooled properly
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2420083651
I dunno seems to be running pretty well to me. Not even maxing my GPU usage. Guess I'm having a bottleneck somewhere.

After reading this I got a bit worried... My CPU goes 70c+ and I still game on for hours :lunar2019deadpanpig:

Perfectly acceptable. a whole 30c away from any actual problems...
