Crossplay broke the game? (Constant DC)

Buddy saw that this was on xbox gamepass and wanted to try it out. So i loaded up my copy after not playing it for over a year, he gets constant dc's trying to connect to me, same for me trying to connect to him. (non dedicated server). I somehow manage to connect and we play for a few hours then he needs to leave, i get dced as he was on his phones hotspot. Once he returns, and for the last...2 hours or so i have not been able to connect to him again and as far as i know there is no way to turn off crossplay for xbox game pass pc players as i thought to get around the issue to install the gamepass version and play that...nope.

Seems i'm also not the only one as i've seen a few threads regarding disconnects and such. I get the game is in early access but after a playtest/beta connection issues were not immediately fixed? does anyone know how to fix non dedicated server connection issues especially regarding gamepass/crossplay? how does one turn off crossplay on an existing non dedicated server? etc.

Same for us too. We are 6 friends trying to play but the same things keeps on happening. We tried hosting the game through a steam copy as well as from gamepass. NO LUCK. I updated my windows 11, updated ethernet drivers, checked my firewall, release renew my ip, verify the integrity of files and updated my graphics drivers. I am playing on Gamepass for PC.

The host needs to disable Crossplay when starting the server. Solved.

He's playing on gamepass and there is no option to disable crossplay when on gamepass. This is one of the things me and my buddy were also looking for given the game is so small i decided to install it on gamepass but no dice

Since Crossplay, when I log in online maps now I get disconnected immediatly and Valheim crashes...

We tried that, thank you. But since we play on gamepass and the others on steam we cannot disable it !!!
