Cloud Sync issues?
Ever since the new caves update came out, i have been having issues with my save data not syncing with the Steam Cloud. After about 1 or 2 tries to manually sync it does work, so i'm not to worried about it but was wondering if other players are having the same problem. :lightbringer:

I disabled it inside of Steam. I have seen too many horror stories on losing saves with it.

It's horrible. I stopped using it altogether.

Seen it cause issues in other games so don't use it myself. It's intended use case is for traveling, and using Steam on an alternate machine that doesn't have your local saves.. So for the most part it is unnecessary.

just happened to me, everything is there, it is saved locally aswell, but every shutdown of the game now ends with a cloud error -.-

This is a known issue. The best is to turn cloud save off. Back up your data. Back it up. Really. You should.

I have no issues with cloud saving and I always use it.
<now if the game crashes or something but I don't mod and my game hasn't crashed for a very long time>

North Am near NYC so don't know if that helps in my case being near servers or whatever.. IDK

Now recently it won't show it syncing when I close the game. Normally I can hover my mouse over the tray icon and see it syncing but it has not been. It does sync quickly when I start the game so that is fine.. as long as it syncs each time I don't care when and don't need it both times.

This same thing has been happening with another game I play also.
For a while it would sync when closed and opened. On my other game the syncs were long so it was a bit of a pain. But recently for both games the sync has only been happening on start up.

Not sure if this is your issue but something to watch for.

I never experienced a problem as well, but then I'm living in a "developed" country (Germany). ;)

Some players here might have slow and flaky connections, though. And then you might run into trouble. It is best to turn it off.

You should do backups either way.

Big problem here, keep getting "Unable to Sync" and I have restarted Steam, done app verify, and even unloaded the entire game, and reloaded, and its STILL cannot sync to cloud, what is going on, how can i fix this. And it threw away all my history when i reloaded the game, so I have to start over. And its still won't sync to cloud.

I had this same problem (but on Linux). I was able to solve it by uninstalling Valheim and then removing the local save folders in the following locations:

~/.local/share/Steam/userdata/0/<ACCOUNT ID>/ac/WinAppDataLocalLow/IronGate ~/.config/unity3d/IronGate/

After reinstalling the steam cloud sync started working again.

If you are using Linux you can use search your home directory for IronGate by:
find ~ -name IronGate

On Windows you can search inside %USERPROFILE% for IronGate and see where the local saves are located.

If you are concerned that deleting something might lose data, just rename the folders instead. E.g. from IronGate to IronGateBackup.
