Modded Valheim Dedicated Server
Hey, all! I'm trying to set up a server for my Valheim to play with mods. Using just the vanilla server works just fine, until I started noticing certain items were not dropping from enemies. So, I determined, that the problem was that the server does not have the mods installed, so I decided to attempt installing BepinEx, as a YouTube video instructed me to. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOGYQRHpp2c&t=160s) After moving the needed files to the server files, the server just hangs after booting up until I press ctrl+c. This then gets it running somehow. I have a theory for this, but it's not that plausible.

The main problem is that when I did try adding the mods into the "plugins" folder in the "BepinEx" folder, I kept on having some "incompatible version" issue.

The mods that I have installed in my game are the Epic Valheim V3.3 - Gameplay Expander Pack. You can use this link [www.nexusmods.com] to see the mods that are included in this pack.

Update: Removing the Forgotten Biomes Mod seemed to fix the issue of being unable to connect to the server. However, the server doesn't seem to allow drops for the mod Epic Loot. How would I fix something like that? I look in the server messages to show that there are mods requesting server configs, so maybe I will need to reconfigure the server to allow the mods to work. here is the server's log (at this point I haven't closed it yet, it's still running):

We run a heavily modded server as well. Here is where I say that mods are not supported. Now that we are past that....

There are a few possibilities. I am not an expert. However...the newest official patch CLEARED OUT the Mistlands. The modpack you have linked is a Mistlands mod. It is possible that this is causing issues. We had some mods that affected the Mistlands as well, and the update on the 8th hit us as well. We just reconfigured the mods to remove the Mistland content.

Just a thought. Also, when you get Incompatible Version, what does the server log say? It should indicate you joining the game, and show both the server version and the client version. Can you tell us how those read?

I never noticed that they removed the Mistlands, and am actually kinda bummed about that. Thinking that that might be the issue would be a bit strange, considering that I was able to play single player and Steam multiplayer just fine with those mods installed. However, I'll try what you suggested, and if I run into problems again, I'll check what happened and update the post. Thank you so much for the help!

I think you might get better trouble shooting advice on the BepenEx forums. Mods are not offcially supported by IG, Steam, or Unity so this really isn't the best place to be looking for assistance with a modded server.

I can offer one suggestion though, remove all the mods but leave BepEnEx inplace, see if the server loads and operates correctly with the mod loader in place. if it does start adding in the other mods in small groups and test each time. The more mods you try to load the more likely there is going to be something that conflicts with the current version of the game or another mod.

I had another post say something similar, The server now allows me to join because I removed a mod that adds mobs to the Mistlands - a biome that no longer exists. But perhaps you're right. I didn't know that there was a proper forum for this situation, but even then, there's a forum for everything nowadays. Thank you!
