If it crash and you are sailing you are put on land with all your gear and your ship is theo ne time it happen to me also near land. ( at least it does not dissapear so you can build a simple raft and go get it ) ;-)
in general when game crash you start where you where and dosent loose anything or game uses the last quicksave that was 5 min ago.
els regardings crashes.. if you own a ryzen cpu then be awarethat about 16% of all 5900x cpus produced in 2020 are defective ( yes its shocking ) and about 4% of all other cpus.
Just saying if you computer crash in other games as well it could be the cpu.
Personaly i make my 5900x cpu wich i think is defective stable by going into bios advanced mode and then i found cpu Vcore Auto and change auto to 1,375volt after that i never had any crash.
Also be aware that if you have an amd radeon card then go into the software and factory reset it and you will be asked what profile you like to use.. you can choose inbetween gaming, esport, economic or standard.
Select standard.
Problem is there was/maybe still is a bug if you select gaming where things such as boost and othe features make game engines crash in many games.
Just saying you can try not sure it gona help .
I finally removed my bios battery on the computer for 20 seconds to reset to factory defaults (the bios oddly did not seem to have this option, even though in the past I have always seen this setting on my computers over the years.) Presto, the computer restarts in Valheim STOPPED!. I have had this computer for years, it is probable at some point I changed some minor setting but I could not find anything overclocked and nothing else was causing these restarts except Valheim.
So if you have tried everything else, maybe try that too...
I have probably played 20-30 hours crash free since then, when before I could never get past 10-20 minutes.
Today, almost every 5~10 mins it crashes. My pc freeze and have to reboot.
It's unplayable.
Everytime o lost everything i did, super annoying.
