Lucky you, I've had Steam Cloud screw up my save files multiple times to the point where I don't even bother using it anymore.

but what option do i have now bro ? ,and if i had to restart ,how do i do to prevent this bullsh*t ever happen again ?

If your game data's gone then you have no option except to restart... and you can turn Steam Cloud off by opening Steam and clicking the Steam dropdown > Settings > Cloud > unticking "Enable Steam Cloud synchronisation", but if you're playing on public computers then I don't know whether this is a viable option for you. You can probably make a backup of your game files onto your own cloudshare whenever you're done playing a game so that you have a copy of them even if Steam Cloud decides to revert them, though.

You can just use Dropbox or any equivalent service and dump the contents of Users\%UserName\AppData\LocalLow\IronGate\Valheim somewhere onto that. (Assuming you can access that file path on the computer you're using.) I doubt this is the best solution for someone in your situation, sorry, it's just how I backup my own game files. Someone else may have a better idea.

i really the operator of the internet cafe showed me that steam cloud are currently in trouble ....so i guess its still possible for my stuff to comeback

Your character and world data is stored in this directory (on Windows, at least):

C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\LocalLow\IronGate

I've never used an internet café. If they automatically wipe such folders, you're probably out of luck.

If they don't, your data should still be there. All you'd need to do is go back to the café with a memory drive, jack in, copy your data across and paste it into the same location on your home PC.

others have pointed out where to find the save files. maybe email them to yourself after every play session so you never lose it?

You could also just start a new game and use the console to help yourself get back to where you were before quicker. But, yeah, no guarantee it won't happen again if you need to rely on Steam Cloud to keep your saves.

cut and pasted from devtrackers:

World save issues

Valheim saves both character and worlds in separate folders in:

C:\Users\

If you share computer (with different logins) with a family member, but you both share steam account. You can have issues with steam and cloud saves. Example:

Player 1 logins on computer, starts steam. (then steam cloud saves will sync files on launch) then when you exit the game, steam cloud saves will sync again) if then player 2 launches the game from the shared steam account, player 2’s local files will be prompted by steam if player 2 want to overwrite the files on c:

This can lead to issues if players 1 and 2 don’t always have steam connected and sync every time correctly. (like quickly close the computer for example so steam doesn’t get the time it needs to sync correctly)

On a dedicated server, if you don’t close the client correctly, you can get corrupted files.
Sometimes a save-file get corrupted. Go to your above mentioned directory. Your world will have files named with .old rename the files and remove the .old extensions and answer YES, when it prompts you if you want to overwrite a current file with the same name.
If your issue isn’t among these examples, please go to https://valheimbugs.featureupvote.com/ and look if someone else have posted about a save-issue that looks like it’s the same as yours. Or write a new ticket.
One easy solution to try is simply to stop steam cloud sync.

waw ,so i need to brought an external hardisk everytime ?

i play in internet cafe so i assume that my progress is gone ,im willing to restart but im afraid this problem is gonna happen again ,i do have this problem in KillSquad game before ,but the devs manage to fix it and brought all my stuff back

i play in internet cafe ,logged in the main operator pc so i got Valheim installed in every pc in the internet cafe now ( so i dont need to redownload it again everytime i play )

this issue just happen ,actually after the operators pc login my account there and downloading valheim ,he didnt loggin to the game ,just download and log out from steam

and suddenly all progress and character are gone when i login in different computer

Wait, were you logged in to your own Steam account when you noticed the game files were gone?

Just to clarify, the devs can't restore anything for this game, as it isn't an online game where everything is stored server-side. Your game files would have been saved on either one of the computers in the internet cafe or in Steam Cloud.
