Neck tail not spawning

When I am out hunting for necktails half of the time the tail wont spawn after killing the neck. Hope this is a bug that can be fixed soon

The tail is not guaranteed drop, same applies to some other things like eyes or resin from dwarfs or w/e.

Only necks with stars grant tails. Otherwise you only have a slight chance for the drop.

Any meadow's shore will be overrun by those bastards, so just find one and camp it. I keep stumbling upon them all the time, even after I've literally cleaned the place off them "5 minutes ago".

zero-star necks seem to have only a 50% chance of dropping tail. Just kill a bunch and you'll be flush with neck tails. Farther from your original spawn point, you'll start seeing 1-star and 2-star necks. They drop 2 or 4 tails, respectively.

Basic necks have a 66% drop rate on tails, 1+2* necks have a 100% drop rate for tails and can drop multiple tails, go along the shore of meadows and kill as many as possible, lure the necks that swim out to shore so the tails don't fall into the water

You'll see similar drop rates with other mobs, too. The higher the star rating the more likely they'll drop items, and more of them. Modded servers can change this so that low star mobs drop more stuff, or so high star mobs have zero star drop rates, etc.

Some sources say 0 star neck drop a tail 70% of the time, others claim it's lower, 66% or 50%. The main Valheim Wiki says it's 70% but I know that sometimes it feels like it's less than 50%. In the end it's up to the RNG.
