dumb question on ancient roots
Do they ever recharge from being "dried up"? Because I have 2 next to my mistlands farm and coulda sworn both were dried up, but one of em is back to pulsing with energy.

They do recharge

Seems to take some time, but they do.

I try not to put more than 2 sap collectors on any given root, to keep things flowing at a decent rate.

It depends.

They do recharge, but as long as you harvest from the slow extracting extractors they don't.

Just for clarification, you can leave your sap extractor embedded in the root: just leave it be for a bit, until the glow returns.

If I'm looking to settle an area in the Mistlands, I'll try to find someplace that has 2-3 ancient roots within a short walking distance (mist-free areas like this are extremely welcome but not always necessary), and jam an extractor in each, then cycle through them in turn.

(Looks at his 6-8 per root, riding the World Tree's sap for all it's worth) Uhhh, whoops.

Ye for sure 2 per root if you do semi-frequent sap runs.
3 per if you go once in a blue moon.

I can't really put a finger on it, more than three days, definitely under ten, it'll recharge to full with 2 sap taps in it.

I wonder then, if the above commenter always sees dry roots but full taps on their 6-8
Roots generate 1 sap every 400 seconds up to a total of 50. Taps extract it at the rate of 1 per 60 seconds.

I know when I was running with 4 on a root, a lot of the time I'd have 5-7 in each collector and the root would be dry.

Took forever. Then a Gjall came in and I only had 2 collectors on one of my roots, and that little accident changed how I farm it.

I could be wrong, but it seems sap extractors refill faster if you stay in the area. Like blueberries in the wild only respawn if you stay around the bush like 30 sec, even if you harvested days ago

If you collect on a daily basis even just one sap collector per root will drain it dry.

I always found it best to put sap collectors on roots along a mistlands/plains border and combine visiting the sap collectors with hunting lox and collecting rabbit meat form the fulings chasing rabbits.

If you take down the workbench after placing the sap collector it will allow mobs (like rabbits) to spawn in the area and the mobs will ignore the collector and any chests you built.
