obsidian arrow or poison arrow can craft from mountain biome

I usually only craft wooden arrows. The other kinds - flint, iron, poison - are so plentiful that I don't need to craft them.

Once you've reached mountains, obsidian arrows are very cheap to make. Then you switch to needles in the plains and never look back.
Just entered into plains and I have 2 sets of arrows with me. Fire arrows for local blobs and wooden ones for everything else. I think it's going to go well as I like to keep my distance and snipe away.

Had gathered many different kind of arrows while exploring the map and used those against mountains boss. Everything went well while it took some time to pepper her down with flint and poison arrows. At least got some use for them and managed to make room in my arrow chests.

Can't tell what arrows to use in mistlands but for every other biome I have used maxed out best bow that I could build and wooden arrows, that has served me well enough so wooden arrows for the win:steamhappy:
fire arrows until you can easily get obsidian
Whatever arrows you found in the Sunken Crypts. Typically iron and sometimes poison. Use these for wolves if you don't feel confident in taking them on with melee. Fire arrows for drakes. When you get a foothold, then start harvesting obsidian. Stone golems you can beat with an iron mace and Bonemass power if you need it. But be careful in the Mountains because of the new You are being hunted event that you triggered by defeating Bonemass. You will want to know if there is a tower nearby that you can run up when the wolf pack comes after you. In a pinch, make your own tower by raising a terrain column with your hoe. Wolves can navigate mountain terrain better than you but they can't jump.

save yourself the headache : MAKE FROST ARROWS. seriously. use needle for everything else. use obsidian till you get needle.

later there is easy to make carapace but thats last biome.

NEVER make any type of METAL based arrow. period. thats a waste of metal ESPECIALLY iron. iron arrow is the worst waste of metal you can craft in this game. dont do it. iron is required for larger buildings and bases way too much. its the most overused metal in the entire game by far.

silver arrows suck.

flint---->obsidian----> needle--->carapace for normal arrows.
fire----> frost arrow for the elemental ones.

forget the rest exists. if you find some free ones in a chest fine but dont make them yourself.
Most every thing is neutral or resists piercing damage.

In the meadows wooden arrows.
Black forest - fire arrows for every ting except trolls, use flint for trolls.
Swamp - flint for every thing except abominations. Use fire for those. Use the iron arrows you find for starred enemies.
Mountains - fire for drakes. Obsidian for every thing else.
Plains - Wooden arrows for deathsquitoes. Needle arrows as soon as you can make them. Frost arrows for tough enemies.
Mistlands - a few creatures that are weak to pierce. Needle arrows for most things, frost on things you need to slow down.
Imo frost are overall best in Mistlands. Bugs are strong vs all physical types of damage outside their weak spots but neutral vs elemental. Frost also has the advantage that anything that has the wet status is weak vs it.
It seems people are overlooking the poison arrows. This last time around I used poison arrow on Moder and the fight only used 100 of them them.

The only downside to poison arrows is it take time for the full damage to occur.
Fire arrows are pretty economical and effective. Flint arrows are super easy too.

Mine Green Mile původně napsal:
sr but i though plain is the fifth or last biome,i just come to the fourth biome
Yesss but the game's not strictly linear about this stuff, you can sequence break all over when you know the zones. Squitos are an easy kill for any level player if you stay alert and the plains are particularly easy to gain a foothold in by taming the local cowbeasties.
Guys, OP is not asking about arrows to use against the boss, they're asking about what is the best arrows to take with them for starting the biome. Most of the answers so far have basically been:

Q: "What arrows should I craft as I go into the Mountains for the first time?"
A: "Arrows that require Mountains materials, obviously!"

(I will give on the Fire arrows, however - especially as they're also made of fairly easy to gather, infinitely available materials - though Drakes are the only Mountains creature that are weak to them and quite a few are resistant)
Obsidian are okay with the poison bow.
If you're just entering mountains - flints, as mentioned and also fire arrows too.
I just use wooden arrows on the wolves and drakes. I wear full set of iron armor, iron mace, and huntsman bow. All are at highest level I can craft at that point. Use the best food you can cook.

Wooden arrows only need wood to craft.

As long as you have Frost Resistance mead buff, the drakes do little damage. 2 or 3 wooden arrows will kill a drake.

Mostly I use iron mace and iron shield to kill wolves. You can one shot kill the wolves from stealth with wooden arrows.

I only craft better arrows for the bosses.
