Black Forest Purple Re-spawn Piles
So I've been knocking out all the glowing purple re-spawn piles in the black forest as I've come across them. Does that permanently stop grey dwarves from regenerating? Does that remove the re-spawning of trolls, as well?

those piles have nothing to to with trolls. and - it do not prevent greydwarfs from re-spawning. a little less in direct area of the pile, but never completely.

if you look for a way to prevent spawning in your camp - place some bonefires or those hanging coal-pans in the area. one of it should protect an area of ~20meters around it. torches seems to work too.

Thanks for the pointer, but I don't have access to iron, so the wiki wasn't terribly helpful.

I wouldnt destroy them. Its a very nice farm for wood, eyes, and resin.

Killing physical spawners only stops those particular spawners from spawning more greydwarves. There are many kinds of spawners, most of them are invisible and incorporeal but knowing they're there and how they work is still useful.

... what does iron have to do with it? Those links were to explain the mechanics of spawning, greydwarf spawners, and spawn suppression, respectively.

There was a suggestion of putting hanging braziers at my camp to stop grey dwarves from popping up, which require iron I believe. I know I don't have the option to make one yet. That's not my concern. My home base is protected by a deep dry moat, lined with the core wood spikey wooden fences.

It's the re-spawning of trolls that I'm having problems with and eagerly awaiting the update where I can reduce the level of difficulty.

However, on the topic of the wiki, it needs work.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I already filled a chest with eyes. ;) I've been throwing the ones I do collect into the ocean now.

Resin goes really fast if you have a big camp you like keeping lit, or if you use alot of fire arrows at the start like i like to. Plus it a good place to farm skills as well since the mobs just keep spawning in the same place very quickly.

use a boat - you can see crypts from a boat - find a safe place to dock it - kill everything in sight and drop a workbench , repair the boat regularity as you fill it with iron , return home and build a bigger boat - rinse/ repeat - sooner than later kill the boss wiht a mace and poison meade ,go get silver , come back and own the swamp with silver weapons and fill up the iron - =used in building - iron rebar is the best
