Looking for a mod to increase smelting time etc
Any simple mods that only increase the time it takes for ores to smelt & wheat to grind etc? Would like to increase the time it takes by 10x. But rather not do anything else to be compatible with updates and easily disabled without causing issues.

Not sure if this is going to be part of the coming world settings but hopefully you can adjust it in the future.

maybe this mod here is already working:
https://www.nexusmods.com/valheim/mods/973

didn´t know status for 0.216.9, deleted it a few month ago bcs had some issue with other mods.

other mod i know to configure smelting-times is the valheim plus-mod - but this can´t be co-exist with BepInEx which is needed for several other mods.

greetings

I second this.

Have been trying to avoid Valheim Plus as it seems to cause a lot of issues with patches. But will think about trying it anyways, thanks!

Valheim Plus is quite broken and has been for some time, which raises questions of if they're ever going to fix it. I loved the mod and the things let you tweak, but it's been broken for way too long for me to feel confident suggesting it.

Valheim Plus is not broken at all, as someone else is releasing current updates. I run a server and am using V+ with it. None of our players have any issues with it.

why would you want to increase smelting time of ore

One of the best parts of the game is the busywork in your base and it would be nice to leave the smelter running and making slow progress, instead of the current option where you insert the ores and it is almost instantly done and you have to constantly sit next to it to refill or feel like you are wasting time not keeping the smelter active.

Also then there would be a reason to build a larger smelter building or a larger windmill etc.

Build an array of smelters. When we pop up like a dozen smelters, we barely have time to fill them all before the first ones run out. Rather than feeling like you're wasting time, the more you build, the more rushed you feel.

I don't understand how increasing the time to smelt would make it feel like you are wasting LESS time, because it seems the exact opposite.

Well this exactly is the issue.

It doesn't matter if it takes 10 seconds or 1 hour for one ore to smelt, if the smelter is not running you are wasting time if you have ores to smelt. I'm not trying to speedrun smelting ores, I want to feel like I'm making progress by occasionally maintaining the smelter, even if very slowly. Or windmill, refinery etc.. But perhaps Valheim Plus will work for this, haven't yet tried.

So you want it to take longer to smelt stuff?

I just smelt in the morning and when home for night. It is consistent, takes no time at all and I can chew through a lot of resources. I find using just one of each processor works fine for solo play. Spend days that are rainy making food, arrows, gardening. If I am home I also refill the refiner/smelter as needed or noticed. Any day that is not stormy is a day exploring, mining, etc., prepping for boss. When I get back to base there is always a pile of resources to put away which I guess makes me feel like movement forward. Your mileage will vary. Spend less time at your base. lol Or maybe look at the game as less of a "job". Be the grasshopper occasionally.
