It always amazes me how the people creating these topics never think about running outside their base to fight. The mobs chase you, not your base. Run outside the base as they start spawning and no damage is done to your base.

If someone is struggling with trolls, then they really aint going to like wha thappens when Gjali show up later.

Make a boat go find some plains... Look for a small Island adjacent out in the water from the plains.. Build your base and add some land in the water. You can grow almost everything and go Raid less without having to set the no raid option. Just make sure you place your workbenches correctly to cover the small island. I pretty much have done this since the beginning unless I want to deal with raids and when I do.. I just make a smaller temp from the island on mainland to fight for the free resources

I've only been attacked by two trolls in one raid, so far, and it was a breeze to deal with. They only barely broke through my walls before I killed them. You do need to build actual defenses for your bases, and for fighting Trolls ideally a tower of some sort so you can easily headshot them.

You can lure the trolls away and just keep them busy chasing you instead of demoing your base and once you get stone itll be a lot harder for them to break it.

Can confirm I have played the game since launch. A few updates ago there is a raid like very 20 mins for me. Over and over and over. WAAAAAAAAAAAY more than before. Raids that should not be happening based on the bosses defeated. We were getting foul smell after the first boss. Something is amiss.

The word that sticks out at me in this post is "we."

Someone on your server was spawning those raids to mess with you, and/or defeating bosses without telling you.

I have never dug a moat or an earth wall. I just kite them into the field once the raid starts.

The obvious solution would be to build a better base. Even before I started manipulating the land, it wasn't real hard to fight off trolls if you have enough walls. But with land manipulation, it's extremely easy to make a base trolls can't even touch.

Exactly, its a video game, and it doesn't make me feel anything. Someone complained its to hard to deal with raids near his/hers base, i gave advise how to deal with it, maybe, just maybe that someone is new and has no clue about advanced base defenses tactics.
Why would someone disable games features that actually help in resource gathering and make it more fun.

Raising land is advanced base defense?

More like lazy and fugly base defense...

Part of valheim's charm is to have a nice base as you progress and work on it while at home you're crafting, waiting for ingots etc.

Why should you not disable options? Options like this hhave been games like in system shock 2 in 1999

I only make walls, and I only do it to bases where I grow crops. If there is no crops then I build no walls.

As I said I run outside the base, which can be VERY effective because half the raid spawning will get caught by mobs spawning in the area outside.

My late game bases are in the plains and you would be amazed how fast raids are over when they start tangling with lox, fulings, deathsquitos, and the tar mobs.

lucky you. I enjoy raids and my base had no attack in about 40 days ( since I killed the elder ), even set bar at more raids didn't help

Update, I had a Troll raid with three trolls this time, but it was still no big deal. They smashed my walls and some of my stuff, but I just rebuilt it.

Trolls stop being an issue.... Drakes... are the only thing that become annoying.

That's fair. I actually game to see if their was any release date info on new content since Mistlands. Saw this thread and figured the ring fort could help. I should have said Drakes are the only thing pre mistlands.

For trolls though the nice historically... thematic ring fort works fairly well while you are getting to the later content...
