Any plans on an actual map?
I'm getting terrible random seeds, main reason why I hate random maps you have to rely on getting a good one.

Actual map??? What do you mean? (press M?)

If seeing the entire map is something you want to do, then just activate the console commands and do exploreall to reveal the entire map.

I have over 1000 hours, solo / vanilla, and found that once I understood all the mechanics, and how all the enemies behave, It doesn't matter what map I get, they are all "good ones".

I don't understand either. A "bad" seed, for me, would imply certain items won't spawn or an early out of depth monster or something like this. But none of this exists in Valheim.

OP, maybe you can clarify. What makes a seed bad for you? Not judging you, just trying to understand.

Do you mean a base default world that isn't random? Or a revealed map of a random world? A large part of this game is exploring different areas of any given biome to find a good spot for whatever you want to do. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes not. But you can always still play the game.

Other than that there's various communities and forums that share desired seeds, and map generator sites that reveal a map on seed entry.

Depends, what do you consider a "good" seed?

We could probably find a good one if you list your expectations. Bosses on your starting island? Easy to reach merchant? Nearby swamp with good resources?

What's good for you might not be ideal for someone else. This is frustrating to some though, so let us know and maybe we can get some good seeds for you.

To be clear these things have existed in Valheim, seeds with no Moder alters (fixed) or deathsquitos zipping across the map to snipe a noob in the meadows (behaviour modified). And you can still get maps where you have no choice but to cross a future biome to get to your next boss.

Not if you get a seed with the smallest swamp biome, which means barely any iron.

There is more than one swamp.

The swamp-without-iron thing made a friend of mine quit, so I can understand why it's an issue. For a brand new player, getting to the Swamp for the first time is a big deal, imagine getting that far only to find RNG has cursed you, another swamp lies across the other ocean from the other side, but you have no idea.

Then you find that swamp and biomass again miles away, sorry but your Biomass is in another swamp. That one by itself isn't too bad. But compare that with people who get biomass first time with good iron, in their first easy-to-reach swamp? Such a variable difficulty will put some people off.

The world generation should ensure a swamp has at least two crypts. It really does appear that the swamp without mines is an unintended consequence of "geography". As realistic as that might seem, it's not fun for some. Depends on your tolerance for RNG.

WTF is a Biomass?

Can you share some of these terrible seeds just to take a look?

I've played on dozens of worlds and never ran into a "terrible" seeds. Yeah some are nicer than others, and there are some very funky ones that make for atypical runs, but "terrible", what makes it terrible?

Maps have constraints in their generation. Radius from spawn for some biomes is one, amount of resources or boss spawns, etc.

Love the random acpect of the map, that is one of the thing that make the game fun every time you start up.
Would however love more things to find and rare sites to find.

A literal person I take it... I said smallest swamp biome, taking all the swamps in total, do you even use valheim map generator to look or do you just spout words?

Use it yourself and you'll see sometimes you get bad generations..

My only really bad map was a starting point at the V where rivers merged. Normally a great place but the sides were very steep on both rivers. Exploring was a chore so I restarted.

wait wtf . I have only 250 hours in game but travelled all across my 2 maps in longships . There must be like 20 + swamp biomes in a map exploring it .

That your closest to center swamp is a tiny bad one i can certainly understand. is it really a big deal. Lots of 4 crypts grouped together in most swamps .
