Sick of Growths
Really, just sick of the Plains in general, but really really sick of growths. They hide in the grass, they vanish at the preferred engagement range, they fire a spew of attacks which immobilize you guaranteeing that you'll get hit again and again until you die...

..they're simply just no fun to fight against. And there's two tarpits right next to Yagluth and no way to empty them out, guaranteeing that I'll get tarred and die when I try to fight him.

I think I'd rather get Noita'd.

I can't use a shield to save my soul much less my character, but blocking with one might be the way to survive that more easily. I try to snipe them from a distance, pick the fight without having to be in the thick of it (pun intended).

A handful of arrows deals with them fairly easily, even with them being resistant to piercing damage.

Just take a step back, breath, and prepare. While those growths are sleeping, you are making potions, food, a small outpost nearby with a portal. And when you are ready, snipe them mercilessly with arrows. When they get close enough to counter-attack, strafe. After their attack, charge in and launch an attack of your own, but don't get greedy. Take it slow. Another fun game to play is to pull a village of Goblins over to the Tar pits. Each tar pit only have 4 or so slime. You got this!

Get the closest Fuling camp to chase you and lead them to the growths. Lox work pretty well too.

use a bow and the dodge roll, you can dodge the attacks and pick them off slowly one by one. that's how I manage it anyway. the further away you are while fighting them, the easier it is to dodge roll their attacks too so keeping as much distance as you can makes it easy to dodge. alternatively you can maybe raise ground somewhere and shoot down from above that might help you. make some earth to hide behind while they are attacking you above.

You don't need to dodge. You can just step to the side and not use any stamina, then run up and finish the growth. It's a bit more tricky with 2, and I don't think I'd try it with three, but one at a time is nothing.

yeah with 3+ you are going to need to do very ranged combat and do very large circles, kiting them in a line pretty much, then you can pick them off 1 by 1. dodging helps alot in melee actually if you are good with the timing of their attacks.

They are undead, weak to blunt, and only shoot at your position. They don't lead shots, just keep moving while they shoot then you have a good 5 seconds or more to kill. Incredibly weak to Frostner. They fight fulings and lox, bait a lox into them if there are too many for you.

If you have your sound on you can hear them and give them a wide berth. You can also block their tar attack by standing behind one of the large rocks that are sprinkled through the plains or even the occasional sparse tree. The growths jump like blobs and oozers. You can hit them with fire arrows at the top of their jump. They can't attack unless they are on the ground.

Lots of ways to deal with one or two of them. Three is rough unless you have some distance.

I use Frost arrows and snipe from a distance. Much easier to get more hits when they're moving slow.

Aggro but keep distance, wait for jump, then move into engagement range, sprint strafe their attack, sprint straight at one, three hits with a silver sword or equivalent kills it, walk away to recover stamina, sprint strafe next volley, attack, etc.

You will get used to their attack rhythm and can anticipate the volleys. You can control the engagement by entering their attack range at the same time so you don't have to deal with layered cooldowns creating a saturation bombing scenario and you definitely want to avoid them entering attack range mid jump, creating dive bombers that can shoot over cover. Jump and attack cooldown and the same length.

Worst case scenario is several layered dive bombers coming at you. No running, no hiding, just tar bombs.

How many workbenches (or campfires) does it take to block spawning from a tarpit? That sounds like the way to go. I can (barely) handle a growth when I know where it is coming from, but if I'm busy with something else (like Yagluth) I know I'll get tarred before I even know I'm under attack. Shutting down the spawns is what I need most.

About two or three spaced out around the edge should do it. As long as the whole pit is covered by the white circles from the benches it should be fine because they only spawn in (or maybe very near?) the pit
