were ancient roots nerfed?
I used to get 45 to 50 sap per root now i only get like 23 or so using 5 sap collectors per root. And yes the roots are full pulsating with energy.

afaik a given root will yield 50 sap only the first time. after that, it will yield 40 sap after it fully recharges. the placement of sap collectors does seem to be finniky. they need to be right on a glowing part.

i see, interesting. Ill give it a go on placing on the glowing part and see if that makes a difference. Though the root is all dried up after yielding 23 sap when I played earlier.

Yeah best way is to find an area where you have a bunch of roots clustered together and then plant 1 extractor on each. Block it off with walls made with your hoe and then put some work benches around to stop enemies from spawning inside. It basically feels useless to have more than 1 extractor on each root. Yeah you might get some sap quickly first, then it stops.

it is enough to put an extractor and a portal under the root, the main thing is to demolish the workbench so that mobs do not attack. for me personally, no portals are demolished, it is advisable to hide the portal at the bottom of the roots.

one extractor per root . and every day you can collect 10

3-4 roots with portals to them are enough if collected every day)

That's how you choose to do it, but that doesn't change the behavior of the root. I personally prefer to have two roots close that I put 4 extractors on and get the full 40 in one day, then dismantle them and wait the 7-8 in game days for the roots to recharge and repeat process. I dont wanna go all around to a bunch of different roots all the time.
this video has all the data if you care to educate yourself on the topic before telling somebody they are wrong.

I got 3 taps on 2 roots (2 on 1, 1 on the other) inside a ribcage of all things, get 30 if it is fully charged, or less sap at a slower rate if the glow is weak.

But I never bothered removing the taps, and they recharge back to full glow again after 1 in game week or few days later or so (guestimate), not sure why but it does. I'll have to test it more. Not sure if anything changed or got nerfed though. Seems to be working for me.
