Cooking Fish?

I cant interact with the Cauldron at all. I don't get any options regarding fish.
I cant cook on the fire either. It doesn't recognise i have fish in my inventory at all.

I restarted and repaired all files/reinstalled but didn't help.
I'm using some mods, but i have no idea who it is, if its a conflict.

I am a newb to fishing, maybe i'm doing something wrong?
That said i have restarted a earlier game, so maybe the save file is corrupted?

if it's just fish, i believe you just hang them over a fire pit for straight up cooking. dont do much fishing myself, but i think thats how it is.
cauldron recipes that call for fish will come up top when u have all ingredients.

Well, that doesn't work.
I tried giving them a key. Didn't work either.

I think you are supposed to filet the fish at cauldron, but i am not sure.

I am building entry into Swamp now, so i will get Iron soon enough.

yep thats the right one. u need this now, sorry. you're right, used to fillet them at cauldron, just not anymore.

cooking fish work perfect in my game.
You need to butcher them at the new food preparation table.
And then you need to cook them above the fire on hooks.
After this you can either eat them or use them in other cooking recipies.
I started a new game about 14 days ago.
If you are playing on an old savegame then maybe that is the problem.

My advice is try to rebuild your food prepartaion table and other things you can interact with. You dont have to delete the passive things that upgrade your cooking devices.

If that dosent work well i dont know what to try.. A crazy think you can try going to an unexpored location and build it there and see if that trigger something when the world have to update/generate the game world.

You can also try to make an extra player character and load into your game and see if the player can interact with things and then swap player after that and see if that trigger something.

Maybe try and visit a multiplayer server and try to interact with another players food preparation table and see if it work there.

I am playing the Vanila version of valheim and no mods.

I need iron, but i am just about ready to start marsh.

Yup. I figured it had changed in some way, because i remember fishing before :)

Yes and if i remember well, apart from the preparation table (for the pies/cake/bread kind of food and feasts) some base mead potions require fish, and those are now prepared in other new kind of workbench called "mead ketill"... Before "Bog Witch" they were made in the cauldron and... Yes, you still need to ferment them later.
