Im doing Hammer/Sword/Shield"Bow.
Just started Swamp.
Is playing a mage really an option or do i need to mod to play a mage?
Or maybe Archer will do it?
Or maybe its not a problem for me on only hard difficulty.
Sorry for questions.
Im a noob.
Allright.
Thanks m8.
I hope you turn it around
Maybe i'll get some game changing info here, or maybe they'll buff melee for this fight before Deep North drops. In the meantime Stalker2 coming next few days I'll have other things to squeal about for a while. lol
I wouldn't buy stalker2 in a couple weeks yet.
I'm sure it will be quite a few bugs.
Let them patch it up first.
That is my policy anyway, or wait until it gets on 50% discount in a couple of years
I'm thinking that the berserker mead combined with bonemass could be pretty effective, although I haven't tried it out yet.
As far as I can tell you need to run away as soon as he does those large green circles. No chance to escape if you run too late. Especially with a heavy build.
You could of course try berserkir mead + bonemass and maybe try switching to light armor + Ashen Cape for this fight. In that combination your attacks and blocks won't cost stamina and you have more for running away.
What I don't actually know are these two things:
- if you can dodge-roll the last piece of the spikes if necessary
- if the set bonus of the heavy armor is of any help with the spikes (i.e. if the spikes are just a clone of the lava)
That said... even on lowest difficulty you might have to return home to repair your weapon in this fight. Because it just doen't last.
Thanks Drac I've tried all of that so far. Ratatosk, lingering stam, barley mead, lightfoot, bonemass, running from the spikes. Clearing the area first, starting at dawn, resting .. guess I'm just not that good yet lol. Kinda frustrating to still ne a noob after 1700 game days!
It's kind of interesting that I can get the boss down to half in around ten/15 minutes, keep him there until I get bonemass back and rest (not sleep), and then get absolutely crushed on the second go, Reeee!
So don't bother with flametal chest, root harnesk is where it's at for this fight.
*Just one quick question. Isn't Root bad against fire? Or maybe Barley mead negates that enough?
*Time to grind magic I guess. :)
1. Fader is the current last boss in development but there likely will be another one in the North once its released.
2. You can be a mage archer melee or as you wish. Mage though comes a little later in game as a play option. Everything has a skill association with it that determines the effectiveness of em, but some skills can take an extremely long time to level up to close to max, and without mods, if you die, you lose skill points as well. Sliders in difficulty of course help mitigate things otherwise with regards to the world modifiers.
It is of course a survival game.
Also you can opt to play where you kill bosses without using those combat skills. Tames, spikes, campfires, and other methods have been employed by people to take down bosses especially in speed runs.
3. Lots of vids and guides on play as others have also suggested.
